Rescuing Rafael could have gone much worse... And then did, when Rafael, desperate to feel alive and free again, got himself into a car accident. He came out of it alright, but injured, and they headed back on a plane after a whirlwind wedding had happened the same night between Dean and Rose, which Elena and the fiendish version of Sam had dropped in on - as well as Bobby Singer. After the madness of that night, Jack sent word back to them that if they had any family that they wished to keep safe, they could bring them back to Krozna. Rafael and Isabella insisted on picking up Giorgio, Nellethiel, and their children, Giulia and Pietro. Alainn picked up quite a bit of family as well - her adoptive parents and siblings from Ireland. They return to Krozna together, where everyone can get acquainted and recover from the ordeal of their close calls in New Orleans before pressing forward. There would be months for them to train, and the pace of life in Krozna to settle in, far from the chaos of the rest of the world.

The date is now quickly approaching for the upcoming meeting at the "Darkhouse" where they hope to acquire more leads about the dagger that was used by Blade in the ritual to kill his father, Malaak'a.

[ She stiffens a little because while everyone probably should hear what happened? ]

Uh. [ Her hesitation obvious, despite her next words. ] I guess that's your call.

I think we've established that it would be wise to keep everyone rather firmly on the same page moving forward.

[ Tension now radiates through her whole body, Rose's fingers curling into the palms of her hands, then flexing as she struggles to rein in her emotions. ]

Alright then. [ Exhaling a staggered breath. ] Lets see how people try to defend this one.

Is there something I should hear about first?

[ Rose glances in his direction, quietly taking him in as if trying to glean something from the man or his words before dragging her gaze away. ]

I've just been down this road before, that's all.

And I prefer we don't retread old steps when they lead down roads that have only taken us to painful places. Perhaps we can find a better one this time.

How? [ It doesn't seem that she's trying to be difficult, more that she's resigned to the reality of the situation. ]

You can't make people hold somebody accountable for their actions when they don't care. Elena has repeatedly fucked with my life without facing a single consequence and still people want make out like it's not that bad.

I think that having all the information about what she may be doing can only prove your case, in the end.

I'd rather attempt to be optimistic. At this point, assuming the worst of one another is not about to get us to a point where we can get past how things may have been in the past.

I can't afford to be optimistic. [ More resigned than bitter. ] Not anymore.

[ But instead of arguing she just keeps moving. ]

Tell me. What happened?

[ Rose continues a few steps, steeling herself before forcing the words past her lips. ]

I got married. [ That announcement lacking the happiness something like that should warrant. ] We barely made it past the I do's before Hell showed up making their ultimatums and threats.

[ well, that's... shocking. and tiring. but he's clearly on alert now. ] They certainly know how to make a statement.

I'm sorry, Rose.

[ She turns slightly, glancing back at Jack but not completely looking at him. Simply allowing the apology to hang in the air before lifting her shoulders in a shrug and meeting his gaze. ]

Yeah, well. I should have known better.

You deserve happiness as much as anyone does.

People rarely get what they deserve.

It doesn't mean one should give up hope for it.

[ She lets out a breathless chuckle, uncertain if Jack heard the underlying meaning of her words. ]

I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

Either way, I do believe you're right to want to share this information, if it seems that they're not through with us.

[ She'd point out that she does not want to share - that she only wanted to tell him and wipe her hands of the whole mess but she figured she'd made her displeasure at the rest of it perfectly clear by now. ]

They're after something and until they get whatever it is, they won't stop trying. [ Her gaze darkens at her next words, the reality of them finally starting to sink in for Rose. ] But it'll never be over.

I can't imagine exactly how that feels. I only hope that you know that there are people here who truly would do all they could to protect you and your family, even if some of this seems... beyond our reach.

How do I believe that?

[ It's not said harshly, no trace of bitterness there. It's almost as if she truly does want the answer. ]

The closest thing to a mother that I've ever known? Betrayed me to them. Even after I told her it could get me killed.

How do I trust people to help protect my family, when my own family has betrayed me for them?

Because for some of us, all we have left are one another. There's an element of family in that as well.
