The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope none of you are shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

[At some point in the evening, Thoster slides up beside Morgan and claps a hand firmly to his back.]

[His eyes bulge at the sudden contact and he turns to Thoster. He gives him a somewhat friendly grin as he gets his bearings.]

As much as one can. Sir Thoster, I believe?

[He uncrosses his arms and holds his hand out to him.]

One can enjoy oneself as much as one pleases. Liquor helps.

[Thoster takes the hand with enthusiasm.]

Aye, that'd be me. And they call you, Morgan, if I recall.

That they do.

[He recrosses his arms and gazes out over the crowd for what's probably too long a time before remembering he's trying to get better at this people thing.]

So what made you join the Knights?

[The big castle full of potentially expensive items]

It seemed like a smart... professional endeavor. And you?

The same I suppose.

[Except not. MISINTERPRETATIONS EVERYWHERE.]

You seem to be getting along with the others quite well.

What can I say? I love a good party.

[He grins again before once again looking around the room, this time focusing on the decorum rather than the people.]

From the looks of things you should fit in rather well.

Well, they asked the both of us to join up, didn't they? Means they must think you will too.

Perhaps we'll see one day.

[That will get another laugh from Thoster.]

Chin up! It's a party, after all. No sense being too somber. Or sober for that matter. Cheers. [He lifts a drink and takes a swig without waiting for the other man to join him. Mostly because he has this feeling the guy won't]

[He lifts his chin unintentionally at the remark before nodding in response. He doesn't have a glass so... he's trying to be polite... with his face and stuff.]

What did you do before you came to the Knights?

Oh, you know. This and that. I made my own way.

Had a ship and a crew to keep me company.

[uponwildwaves]

[His eyebrows shoot up a bit at that.]

A ship?

[bluffcheck]

[He nods] Aye. Ship came with me. Crew stayed behind. [Concern crosses his face for a moment.]

I'm sure their captain taught them well. They'll be fine without you for the time being.

[bluffcheck]

Aye, I can only hope. Best not to ruin a party with such thoughts. [And suddenly he's drinking for a completely different reason.]

So what about you, hm? What sort of world did you leave behind?

[uponwildwaves]

Me? Caretaker.

[bluffcheck]

And what is it that you take care of? [Because that job description doesn't help him much.]

[uponwildwaves]

The dead... or at least where they found themselves resting.

[bluffcheck]

[Well aren't you the LIFE of the party. Eh? Eh? ...]

Never thought they needed much taking care of.

[uponwildwaves]

[Deadpan.] You'd be surprised.

[bluffcheck]

[Even while tipsy, Thoster can read between the lines.]

I'm sure I would. Well. It's been fun, Morgan. [He puts a hand on the man's shoulder.] But I've got a great many people left to meet.

[He grins politely and offers his hand.]

It's been a pleasure, Thoster.

[A smile! Thoster takes the hand and shakes it with a laugh.]
