The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope none of you are shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

[Yeah, it... falls pretty flat. Andie looks puzzled.]

[His brow furrows and he looks down as if contemplating something.]

Sorry, I'm not very good at [he gestures to their surrounding before looking off to the side] all of this.

Oh, it's cool. [She waves a hand dismissively.] Parties are way big and loud and I totally get not liking them. [Even if she does like them. She's being nice.] Oooh! We can go somewhere quieter. Or get food! I mean, they're tiny appetizers and practically nothing but still food, right?

[uponwildwaves]

Yes, of course.

[He smiles nervously and rubs his hands together. That action and the fact his shoulders are now hunched probably makes it look like he's cold. He's not. He's just... weird. Still he gestures for her to lead the way.]

After you.

[She sets a fast ace as she goes towards the food. She tries to stay at a reasonable human level, but it's hard because she's hungry. She looks over her shoulder as they go, still chatting.]

They've got awesome food here. Have you tried any yet?

[He doesn't do much to keep up. Instead he just keeps his eyes on her head since their hair makes her easy to keep track of.]

No, actually I haven't.

[asap]

Well you should! [They reach a table full of tiny little hors d'oeuvre, and Andie hesitates, holding them out to Morgan before she starts eating. Because once she starts, it's hard to stop.]

[uponwildwaves]

[He grabs one and does some... awkward little "cheers" gesture with it before taking a bite.]

You're right. It's not half bad.

[asap]

[Andie showed great restraint and only devoured half the remaining ones. Then she put down the plate, swallowing.] Right?

[uponwildwaves]

[He's just gonna stare for second before his gaze shifts to the plate... and then back to Andie. What the shit was that?]

[asap]

[She gives him a blank look.] What?

[uponwildwaves]

Nothing, I...

[And suddenly he's a bit nervous because oh shit rude to stare. Pardon him while he looks at his feet.]

Nothing.

[asap]

It's okay. Uh... [Oh my god how do you deal with other people being embarrassed.] What's wrong?

[uponwildwaves]

[His head shoots up in response.]

Oh, nothing. I just... I didn't want to offend you during our first conversation. First impressions and all.

[asap]

S'cool. I'm way hard to offend. [She frowns.] Wait, what were you gonna offend? Is it the dress? I thought it looked pretty!

[uponwildwaves]

... Apparently a bit more than you expected.

[He grins a bit nervously.]

It's very pretty.

[asap]

[Better. She smiles.] Thanks. Uh, you look good too.

[uponwildwaves]

[The grin turns into a soft chuckle before he turns to better examine the food on the table.]

Now, now. We mustn't lie.

[asap]

Oh, come on, don't be so low self-esteemy. You look fine.

[uponwildwaves]

[He grins again, still inspecting the food.]

In that case thank you.

[She grins back and snags a few more.] I should probably do more mingling. It was great meeting you!
