The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope none of you are shy. They're all here to meet you.

Ah yes! I imagine that might sound a bit strange with no preamble. [A low laugh resonates in his expansive chest, with all kinds of draconic reverb] Our organization operates in a number of sections, each of whom specialize in an area of expertise. The Dragon's Tongue represents those with a focus on diplomacy, or the art of dealing with people directly.

I see you have no trouble with that.

[Aaaaah, you see what he did there? You saw what he did there.]

[With a sly look] I would hope there's a reason I was appointed head of the section.

From what I've seen so far whoever appointed you made a wise decision.

[koraith]

That would be Wynnefalshond. We're all hand-picked, and usually only after an appallingly long period of service. [He gives another deep laugh at that]

[uponwildwaves]

Appallingly? [That get's a brief grin.] Fortunately I'm a patient man.

Are you interested in taking my job some day? [ His eyes twinkle with humor ]

[He chuckles for a bit and holds up a defensive hand.]

No. I'm afraid I don't quite have the right personality.

Probably all for the better. I hope to have a good deal of years left in me!

What are the other sections, if you don't mind my asking.

[koraith]

Not at all! Let's see... [ His voice rumbles a bit as he thinks ] The largest section is the Dragon's Hide, who, just as the name suggests, are there to protect us all when push comes to shove. And sometimes to get out there and do the shoving. All the fighters, those with a combat focus, join up with them.

I'm beginning to sense a theme.

Ah, yes, well we are very big on themes around here, as you may or may not have noticed. I seem to have taken it one step further than the rest. [His face seems to grin broadly at the joke, and he continues]

Perhaps the next most prominent is the Dragon's Fire, which should assure you that not all of us are named after body parts. It's the place for our wizards, sorcerers, psions, all those who study magic for its own sake, in some way. Though the psions have their own subsect now: the Dragon's Mind, it is. Sir Hasmed leads the Fire, and Sir Ellison the Mind.

[uponwildwaves]

I hadn't noticed.

[He grins and continues to listen, nodding as he absorbs the information.]

So the Mind is part of the Fire. That seems a little odd.

Well, we've never had a great many psions: not nearly enough to count as their own section in the past, which is why they were simply considered members of the Dragon's Fire. However, the root 'magic' so to speak that they use is entirely different, though it may produce some of the same effects.

[uponwildwaves]

I see.

[There isn't much more to say about that so... he'll just... rub his chin or something.]

Of course, there is another branch of magic that deserves its own sect, considering the unusual goals of its members: our divine magic users or clerics, collectively known as the Dragon's Light.

You think they're unusual?

[koraith]

Unusual as in varied, I should say. Each one of them puts their dogma in front of anything else - which is perfectly within their rights, of course - but it makes them slightly more autonomous in terms of what they choose to do with their time here.

[uponwildwaves]

[Oh ho... gotchya there Mr. Smooth-talker. Nice recovery.]

Ah, I see. Have any of these individuals ever strayed from the Knights' path?

[koraith]

Of course, but you'll find that in any sect. Not everyone's personal philosophy ends up meshing quite as well as they had hoped with what we do here. In that case, we part ways.

Has anyone parted ways violently?

[koraith]

[ There's a glint of something in his eye, even if his smile doesn't falter ] Oh, ho! What a tragic question, particularly at a party. We should speak of happier things.

[He'll let it go for now but he's probably going to try and do some studying later on.]
