It's that time again.  New squires would have heard the word come 'round that there would be open weapons orientation this Saturday - which is also open to anyone who just wants to come spar with the newbies as well.  As before, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.

With Dovan and Luthir gone on missions, a surly looking Sir Lanston stands waiting for you all, decked out in his elaborate full plate, though he has no helm on.  He leans on an incredibly dangerous looking sword, as Fred offers a much more friendly greeting to the gathered, motioning them all over.

Yes but I haven't in some time.

That's why we practice. [he nods] Take a dummy, if you don't want to try it on a live target.

[uponwildwaves]

[He's still examining them a bit as he speaks.]

You're the expert. Which would you recommend?

It's always better for a man to face down another human being. Doesn't do him any good to find the courage to beat down a sack of oats.

[uponwildwaves]

[There's a barely contained grin on his face.]

And what if a man found himself fighting a creature rather than a human being or a dummy?

[technophobic]

If he can best a man, he can best a beast.

[uponwildwaves]

[He accepts that with a nod but...]

That depends on the man he can best.

[technophobic]

If he can best me, then. [ He hits his chest with a fist, and there's something extra gruff in his mannerism at the pronouncement ] Now are we gonna talk about it all evening or will you try your hand?

[uponwildwaves]

[He bites back the sarcastic line he has and nods instead.]

Very well. What would you have me do?

[technophobic]

Not sit around on your thumbs. Fight me.

[uponwildwaves]

[He finally looks from the axes to Lan.]

What would that accomplish but your superiority?

[technophobic]

I didn't say I was going to knock you on your back, boy. It's called training.

[uponwildwaves]

[There's that "boy" again... and because of that there's a slight smirk again as well. It's probably going to be misinterpreted a.k.a. oh-shit-run-morgan.]

I'd prefer you don't knock me on anything but if you insist.

[technophobic]

No promises. [ With a sharp laugh, he moves to the sparring circle ]

[He sighs, his chest heaving with the effort before stepping into the circle himself.]

Rules?

[technophobic]

Don't get yourself killed on the first day. [ yeeep ]

Very well.

[With that he holds up the two axes in like... a defensive stance or something like that.]

[ defense, pfft ] Go on now. Take a swing at me.
