It's taken a few weeks to get some incredibly convincing fake IDs, etc. made up for Des, since he's kind of sort of banned from New Orleans, on top of how long it's taken to research what the building was that showed up on the magical 'map' revealed when Jade's touch activated the mysterious stone taken from the Hoffman Institute.

It appears to be the headquarters of a record label known as NOVA Records: a revelation that provoked a response from Kat and Myri, who promptly relayed to the rest of the team what they had discovered about the connection between NOVA and the Brotherhood of the Enlightenment: chiefly that the co-owner of the organization, Chad Becksworth, was donating large sums of the money privately to the Church for reasons unknown. Considering that Jade had claimed Raoul Jacobson, the man who accosted her at her club, was masquerading as a talent agent for 'some record company', it seems to all tie together somehow. Gar seems convinced that the team is hot on the trail of the talisman, which is motivation enough for Des to come along - since he doesn't want to see anyone find the thing, bt isn't about to let them run off and screw everything up.

Wynn agrees, apparently, that the lead sounds promising; promising enough that he sends Finnick to replace Sven, and to agree to send Arthur on the mission as well. WOO, progress!

As usual, being team Failboat, you guys all have to take public transportation and mail your weapons and supplies ahead to pick them up when you arrive in New Orleans. The plan is to break into teams to investigate the Louisiana State Museum and NOVA Records HQ, so once you've met the newbs, it'll be time to figure out who's going where!

[Howdy y'all. Finnick comes into the room, sets his bag down, and takes a look around. ]

Is there a certain room I should be putting my things? [Looking at Spike] Besides not with him, apparently.

Mostly just pick whichever. [ She glances around. ] If I were you, IIIII'd probably stick with Arthur, though, since we're doubling up either way.

You're right. Wouldn't want to leave him on his own. [they shared a profound bond on that plane and now they're bros.]

I was thinking more along the lines of you really don't wanna shack up with Smokey the Bear and Blondie's offspring, but that also. [ shrug. no one ever told her smokey the bear is anti-smoking ok she just means ... spike smells like a chimney. ]

[Hark, it's the blank stare of a total lack of comprehension.]

[Myri emerges after giving Amaranth free reign of the room Buffy has claimed for them. With her belongings and her familiar safe and sound, she comes out to join the group.]

Buffy isn't very fond of Spike. [And here comes Myri with the understatement of the year.] He's not so bad, though. Sometimes. [She throws a friendly smile his way to show that she's teasing. Then she turns her attention to Finnick.]

I don't think we've met. I'm Myrilandel. [She's all warmness with a trace of her shy nature still lingering.]

[He flashes a grin at Myri, then a glare at Buffy.] I'm not one for company anyway. But you should see if Mark's looking for a roommate. I bet you two'd get along.

[...yeah, he's saying you're an idiot. Like Mark.]

[ And Spike gets a snide look in return, but Myri gets a real smile. ] Mark's a good guy, too. He's the -- [ Buffy points him out. ] That one.

[Finnick stands there with his arms crossed, watching them all make faces at each other like they're in some weird three-way tennis match.

ANYWAY. Ignoring all your weird ass Real World: New Orleans drama.] I'm Finnick. [a charming smile was given to everyone.] It's a pleasure to meet you.

[Team Failboat is extremely expressive. Nonverbal language is very important here.]

Likewise, Finnick. I'm sure they'll bring you and the good lord up to speed in due time.

[Yeah, Arthur's distaste for her magic is not something Myrilandel has forgotten.]

[ Annnd here comes Mark, sauntering in, with a gun in hand as he checks the chambers or reloads it or some shit, idek. Now that you've all picked up the shit you shipped to yourselves. ]

My ears are burning.

You should probably get that checked. [ Kat shoves past him and anyone else in the general vicinity of the doorway, and throws herself on the couch, between people's bags. It's only at this time that she seems to notice Finnick. ] You must be the new guy, huh?

[ Gar's right behind her because her and Kat are attached at the hip like good lesbians. Except she actually pauses to shake your hand, Finnick ] Delighted to have you on board. I'm Jeanne Gar, your, well... field head, so to speak.

And so the wolves descend. [ Buffy gives Finnick a look of sympathy in the form of a cringe, then gives him a wave, slipping out of the living area so that she doesn't wind up part of the group mobbing him. W/e they talked on the DrakeNet they don't need intros. ]

[He smiles and holds in a small laugh at the ~good lord~ comment. O-oh but now there are lesbians everywhere ... ] One of two, [He calls toward Kat before putting his attention to Gar and shaking her hand. :* ] Is that so? I'd love to hear more about the field, Jeanne.

[ Kat pops her head right over Gar's shoulder to say: ] Oh, she doesn't go by Jeanne. Everybody calls her Gar.

[ Gar closes her eyes and her shoulders hunch and deflate in a very subtle way that indicates she is very used to this. ] Ah. Yes.

[ Before she can say any more about that, Dumage saunters out of her bedroom, and slows to a halt, draping herself against the doorjamb where she can give Finnick a full once over ]

Well. It looks like Wynn certainly sent us an upgrade.

[Dumage does not even faze him.] How can you be so sure?

I have a sixth sense about these things.

[She glances around at the others, worried they got the wrong impression.]

I mean, really, we're all adults here, there's no need to keep us segregated by gender, right?
