It's taken a few weeks to get some incredibly convincing fake IDs, etc. made up for Des, since he's kind of sort of banned from New Orleans, on top of how long it's taken to research what the building was that showed up on the magical 'map' revealed when Jade's touch activated the mysterious stone taken from the Hoffman Institute.

It appears to be the headquarters of a record label known as NOVA Records: a revelation that provoked a response from Kat and Myri, who promptly relayed to the rest of the team what they had discovered about the connection between NOVA and the Brotherhood of the Enlightenment: chiefly that the co-owner of the organization, Chad Becksworth, was donating large sums of the money privately to the Church for reasons unknown. Considering that Jade had claimed Raoul Jacobson, the man who accosted her at her club, was masquerading as a talent agent for 'some record company', it seems to all tie together somehow. Gar seems convinced that the team is hot on the trail of the talisman, which is motivation enough for Des to come along - since he doesn't want to see anyone find the thing, bt isn't about to let them run off and screw everything up.

Wynn agrees, apparently, that the lead sounds promising; promising enough that he sends Finnick to replace Sven, and to agree to send Arthur on the mission as well. WOO, progress!

As usual, being team Failboat, you guys all have to take public transportation and mail your weapons and supplies ahead to pick them up when you arrive in New Orleans. The plan is to break into teams to investigate the Louisiana State Museum and NOVA Records HQ, so once you've met the newbs, it'll be time to figure out who's going where!

[ Arthur frysquints, and then pulls out his phone, having learnt the answer to "what's a ___" can usually be found there without having to embarrass himself by asking. In this case, records, and museum. ]

Splitting up is a def. [ Kat is still sprawled on the couch since the last thread up top, yep, she hasn't moved yet, deal with it. ] And we might want to at least keep somebody back here at base in case shit gets real out there and someone needs emergency back up. I mean, in theory.

[ Dumage is standing not too far behind Arthur - close enough to see what he's googling over there :| ] I certainly hope somebody's going to NOVA who might have the slightest idea of what a record company actually does. [ She folds her arms and leans against the door jam ] Otherwise you're all going to have a terrible time of coming up with anything resembling a cover story and sticking to it.

[ Mark's on the other side of the room, seated on the arm of the couch, hands clasped together between his knees as his leg jiggles up and down. He speaks up very suddenly: ]

Museum!

[ Gar and Kat give him simultaneous funny looks, so he awkwardly tacks on: ] Uh. I'd like to volunteer. For the museum. [ a beat. and then an even more awkward smile.] I just... love museums.

I rather think that might be the best location for me, as well, given that it seems more likely we'll be seeking an artifact there, than simply gathering information. [ She seems satisfied and nods. ] Which means we have three thus far for the museum. Perhaps two others?

[bigbad]

[Spike waves a hand.] I don't think I'd do well at the undercover daylight bit.

[postergirl]

Oh brother, does that mean you two are going on the same team again? [ She makes a face in the direction of Spike and Buffy ] Count me elsewhere.

[bigbad]

[Spike shrugs. Look, he tends to end up injured working with Buffy. It's not his first choice either. yes it is] I'll switch if you can think up a good reason for me to arrive at the NOVA building on fire.

You could always claim that was your act.

[On that note ... ] I'll go to the NOVA building, since no one else seems to want to.

[Des is just sitting here, bored out of his skull.] Cat burglary's not really my style. I'll take the NOVA building, too.

[ Buffy notices Dumage's look at Arthur and cringes. ]

Maybe the Once and Future King better come with us. [ Mostly because that involves the least listening comprehension and therefore he's at the lowest risk of having to google everything that comes up that way.

She's also conspicuously choosing not to bitch about Spike coming along. Or even address it. Or even appear like there might be a problem. SO THERE, DUMAGE. ]

[ Arthur's mouth twists thoughtfully. He's not sure he wants to be assigned to the dusty old relics of the museum. But he also doesn't really want to be on Team Dumage, so he doesn't defend his pride in his ability to learn about records, which are apparently a way of playing modern music. ]

Yes, fair enough.

Which means Myri and Martha, you're with me and Dumage and Des and Finnick, unless one of you wants to sit this one out for backing up purposes.

As long as I don't have to pretend to be a singer or something. [Martha grins a little.] Or a lift repairperson.

[witchwoman]

[Myri gives a hesitant look in Dumage's direction before pulling her gaze back to Kat.] Martha and I are both skilled in healing arts. Perhaps it'd be best for me to join the others at the museum? On the off chance that things were not to go according to plan?

[These are pleading eyes, Kat.]

She makes a good point. [ Buffy gives a thoughtful look to Kat, then moves to Myri's side and slips an arm around her waist in a girly half-hug. ] Promise we'll take good care of your girl. Please?

[shootfirst]

You don't wanna come with to talk to this Burt guy, then?

[Finnick makes a sadface at Myri because she ... reminds him of someone he can't quite remember, and he noticed when she slipped away earlier.]

Are you sure? It could be fun.

Just as long as we get somebody who can patch us up if things get rough.

[This sucks.

Because she was interested in talking to Burt. And Finnick seems nice, so his attempts to play Mr. Persuasive are also appreciated. But the idea of being involved with Dumage makes her jumpy.

So even as much as she worries about disappointing Kat, she shakes her head.]

My skills are better used in this way, I think.

I'd be glad to have you along.

Settled, then. [ She looks at Myri with a smile. ] You're comin' with us.

[She gives the both of them a smile before looking down. She'll probably feel the need to apologize to Kat later. And possibly explain. Maybe.]
