The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope none of you are shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc!  This goes for... any time.

[ The Dragon's Claw is in a much better mood today, but that doesn't mean he got any more dressed up for this occasion than ever. So yep. Torn ratty coat that's practically a second skin to him now is a go. He's over by the band, popping shrimp in his mouth and insisting: ]

Play something with a little pep in it, will you? Perhaps no one told you, but this is a party.

Pep? Really?

[Faye really isn't looking to make any friends, it seems.]

Does anyone around her talk like a normal person?

And how, exactly, would that be any fun?

[Okay that was way more of a right answer than she's gotten so far tonight.

She drops the snark, but never drops the attitude.]

[ He'll even give her a sudden sweeping bow ] Thomas Bancroft, Dragon's Claw.

[She's only sort of paid attention to any explanation she's been given about the details of this place.]

Dragon's huh?

Ah. Yes, dragons. You'll notice rather shortly that we suffer from a rather singular fixation. I hope you won't hold it against us.

[reallywicked]

[She shrugs.]

Whatever. You guys could do worse than dragons.

[Dragons breathe fire. Fire. She's been thinking about fire a lot lately.]

So does this Claw thing mean you're a big deal around here?

[See Faye. See Faye try to gain awareness of her social environment.]

Unfortunately for me, it means exactly that.

[Annnnd suddenly her smile is a little less snarky and a little more sweet.]

Doesn't seem so unfortunate to me.

Well, it does mean I have much less time for parties. So I try to take what opportunities come my way.

Well, you made it tonight. And before I showed up, I'm pretty no party was worth it.

Oh ho~. [ His face lights up with a large grin. ] Life of, are you?

[Francesca silently slides up next to him, lightly placing a hand on his arm.] How about a dance number?

[bancroft]

[ awwww francesca ;__; he smiles widely at that, reaching out to place a hand on her lower back and gesturing at the floor ] I won't settle for less than two.

[socialgraces]

You can have as many as you'd like. [She let's him steer her on to the dance floor, grinning as she turns to him, expertly falling into the familiar step (NAT 20 dance check).]

I can't blame you for wanting to stretch your legs a bit. [ Annd some kind of awesome dancing music comes on, I'm too lazy to go find some, but Thomas also got a nat 20 dance check, which means they are pretty much... the most badass dancers of all time?? Maybe it's a tango. Yes. ]

[socialgraces]

[I'll find some music for you.

She gives him a raised eyebrow of surprise as he matches her steps with his own awesomeness, and her smile grows wider.] I rarely actually dance at these things. And never with such a capable partner. You might make me swoon, Sir Bancroft.

[bancroft]

Well, we certainly can't have that. [ And he dramatically dips her ] Perhaps I should tone things down.

[socialgraces]

That doesn't sound like you. [And her smile turns more affectionate.] Besides, this is a party.

[bancroft]

Noticed that, did you? [ He draws her back up again slowly, moving into a turn immediately, with effortless ease. ]

The cat's out of the bag, it seems.

[socialgraces]

It's my job to notice everything. [She follows his lead with equal ease, trying her best to keep her eyes on him to avoid becoming embarrassed.] I'm glad we can still find some enjoyment in these parties after all these years.

[bancroft]

I can find enjoyment in almost anything.

[socialgraces]

That's because you're resilient. [She smirks.] And blessed.
