The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Faye sees your white tux and raises you another red dress that she probably bought with her company card.

She'll also just be watching you eat and be disgusted.]

[Faye's dress is a lot like the one she wore to her party, except probably more eye catching. Because this isn't her party, but she'll be damned if she goes unnoticed. She's just going to slowly walk through the room, judging everyone.]

[Jo reminds Faye of someone, but she can't put her finger on who, exactly. But that nagging feeling pulls her over towards the young woman at some point during the night.]

I suppose congratulations are in order. [She says, looking at the girl with a lazy smirk.]

[Scout comes by for a couple deviled eggs and, at the other side of the table, watches him out of the corner of her eye for a second or two. She can't imagine he's not aware of why he's having difficulty with that... still. Vaguely amused, she speaks up quietly and earnestly, as if this is a common difficulty to be discreetly addressed.]

Might be easier if you uncovered your lips at least, or snuck it in under your mask.

[harvelle]

[Yep, she's in someone's spot. And she's not moving. She will, however, glance up at him with an amused little smirk, eyebrows arching as he speaks.]

Lucky for you, there's a whole lot of other chairs. Look at that, there's one right here.

[She pulls out the one next to her and nods down toward it.]

Go on, give it a try.

I guess so, but I don't do real well with things like that. [She shrugs it off, smirking over at the girl in return.]

How many of these things have you been to now? It's got to get old after a while.

[harvelle]

You're gonna dance with Wynn, huh? [She can't help but laugh at the idea of it. He doesn't seem much of the dancing type.]

Good luck with that one. He's stuffy enough you might have to drag him out there.

Can't hope for anything more than that. [She swallows, looking away. Yeah, she's got some issues of her own to work through. THANKS FOR BRINGING THEM UP.]

And if they don't, you still gotta go out there and do what you love and think is right. Otherwise you're just wasting your life, and that's a hell of a lot more shameful than doing something dangerous.

[She doesn't need to be told twice. She bolts out of her chair and doesn't give the party a final glance on her way out.]

Next party I get just for me, I promise to put on a pretty little dress and play nice with everyone, and not sneak off to play with weapons. I just haven't done anything to earn all this, and it feels patronizing to have to be a little Barbie doll and parade around socializing with people who're probably gonna end up hating me in a few weeks.

I'll try. [She grins broadly.] I'll ask, anyway. The worst that'll happen is he gets horribly offended and says no, right? But there's no life without risk.

I, uh... Thank you.

[He tries to grin, the expression coming off a bit more pained than he intended. He sits in the chair and puts his glass down on the table before offering Jo his hand.]

[His eyes narrow under the mask.] Are you telling me what to do?

[Hot. He looks over at her and waves, grinning cheerfully.]

[She raises her eyebrows.] Wouldn't dream of it.

Exactly. [ His face lights up at her explanation, obviously relating. ]

I think you'll get on pretty well around here.

Hating you? [ He side-eyes her incredulously ] Were you plotting how to incur our wrath already?

This is just my second. The last one was way better.
