[ This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans. Because we haven't finished out the other two logs yet, assume some time has passed since then, in case anyone was injured, so that they've had sufficient time to get better.

As for work stuff, you can assume they've been busy with establishing Finnick's fake rock star cred, and investigating some of the intel they'll uncover in those other logs that we haven't quite gotten to yet. JUST DON'T TALK ABOUT WORK and all will be well.

[ she arches an eyebrow and shrugs in a look that says 'well, can't argue that.' then she hesitates, silent for a moment. finally, she resolves, setting him with a firm gaze. stop with the banter, summers. you've been wanting this -- answers -- for months. and now you're freaked when you're getting them? no. ] I want to know more.

In time. [ there's something final in his words, as if he implies them to be a farewell. ]

For now, it's enough to know that your eyes have been opened, and to learn to look with them.

Opened to what? What am I supposed to be seeing?

It's all very literal, I promise. Therefore, I'm not being cheeky in the least when I tell you, you'll see.

[ there's a little snort at that, because she sincerely doubts he's ever not being cheeky with his stupid texting comments. she shakes her head. fine. no answer. she looks over at the trash can. ]

Well ... can you at least tell me what that thing is?

[ he glances over, and then raises an eyebrow at her. it's all very cheeky. ]

I should have thought you'd have guessed by now.

[ she grimaces a little. ] So, that would be demon, then. [ and then, paranoia -- ] Did you -- Did you set this up? That homeless man -- [ who is ... listening to all of this in his half-conscious drunkenness. ] You could have gotten him killed! It was -- [ she deflates because she realizes she still has no idea what it was doing to him. ] ... Sucking on him. [ or at least it had that big ugly sucker mouth and it was getting ready to makes it home on his chest. ] Kinda.

I do not direct the movements of demons, no. They have their own ... instincts to follow. I simply took advantage of the moment.

Demons are everywhere, at any time, drawn to sin like moths to a flame. Very few of them manifest in a way that allows them to interact physically with this world. Rather, they exist somewhere in between. They feed off sin and feed vice in a mortal, simultaneously. It's a rather parasitic relationship.

Do they all look like ... that? [ it's so hard not to say like big ugly bugs. oh, wait. wait for it. ] You know. Big freaky mosquitos chic? I mean, don't get me wrong, definitely instilling terror, just not as ... hellspawn-y as I imagined. [ a beat. ] Not that I spend a lot of time imagining, uh, demons.

They're as varied in appearance and nature as the fauna of this world. Some more... intelligent than others. This one rated as a bug even among other demons. Numerous, yes, but a creature of nearly pure instinct, lacking even a strong sense of self preservation.

... Stupid, in other words.

[slays]

See again: pest control. [ she gives the trash can a yeughh look, then shakes it off looking back at mr. gray. ] So others are bigger and uglier. [ she frowns, thoughtful. ] Are you like me? A -- A ... demon slayer.

As I said: not my job.

Right. Sorry, still ... processing. So, you're like a ... Actually, Fairy Godmother really isn't feeling that far off. [ it would at least explain how he knows what he knows. magic and all. and again -- myri is right. even things in their heads aren't safe. he could be anyone. ]

Not the moniker I might have chosen. But my time here is short.

You will. [ And with that he turns around and walks towards the mouth of the alley... as the can starts wiggling madly. ]

[ she moves to follow him, but then the can starts moving again and she looks down at it, conflicted. putting this demon down wins, though. with a strained look, she looks one last time after mr.gray, and then decides to deal with the demon. she lifts the trash can back up, and flips it over to squash the bug on the bottom of it as she slams it back down again (melee atk 24, dmg 12). ]
