[ This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans. Because we haven't finished out the other two logs yet, assume some time has passed since then, in case anyone was injured, so that they've had sufficient time to get better.

As for work stuff, you can assume they've been busy with establishing Finnick's fake rock star cred, and investigating some of the intel they'll uncover in those other logs that we haven't quite gotten to yet. JUST DON'T TALK ABOUT WORK and all will be well.

[ Yep, the Knights are all in one of those giant booths, with some extra chairs pulled up, taking a night to enjoy good old Louisiana booze. Dumage takes a long drag on her cigarette, and Mark wrinkles his nose where he sits squished beside her. ]

If you ask me, darling, we should just milk this mission for all it's worth. We might be able to get a couple month's vacation here.

[ A stern look as Arthur rains on her parade. ]

Surely there are other places we're needed.

[ it's in the very early hours of the morning that a giant BANG comes echoing out of the room kat and gar share. anyone who comes out to the main room to investigate will be greeted with curling tendrils of blue smoke coming out from the crack under the door... ]

[Spike is just getting home when it happens because he is a creature of the night who likes prowling the streets at night looking like a creeper and wishing he could get into fights without having a migraine. When he hears the noise and the smoke, he immediately rushes forward, shoving the door open (and possibly breaking the lock if there's a lock?) and looking around anxiously. Because he is both stupid and heroic and will someday burn to death. ...temporarily.]

at the hotel [mark, anyone]

[ mark's been gone most of the day, and when he arrives, he's carrying several gigantic shopping bags from what look like fancy clothing stores. the smile on his face makes him look like a kid on christmas as he holds them up triumphantly to whoever is in the living room. ]

[ Arthur looks up, looks at what he's carrying and the grin on his face, his own expression dubious. ]

the hotel balcony [gar, anyone]

[ If anyone seems to define 'workaholic' in this bunch, it's Gar, who's rarely seen without her nose buried in a book or paperwork or laptop.

So it might surprise whoever walks by to see her sitting out on the balcony at night, staring out at the lights of the city reflecting on the water, with her Drakenet phone cradled in her lap, a sort of distant look on her face as if she's eight million miles away. ]

[It's okay, Gar, Finnick likes looking at the water, too. Which is why he stepped out on the balcony only to find her. He moves past her to lean forward on the railing, taking in the view. It was nice. Something about it reminded him of home and not just because district 4 may or may not be located in what's left of the gulf coast depending on which panem map you look at.]

[ even on nights where the whole gang doesn't go out, dumage usually doesn't stick around the hotel room. most evenings, she can be found in the hotel bar, and this is hardly any exception. ]

[it's way too easy to drown out any (mostly ptsd-based) jitters finnick gets while going through with this rockstar shit with booze. he needs a what would haymitch do bracelet or something. they could even have a heartwarming conversation about it if ... haymitch remembered who he was. oh well.

anyway, being the finnick everyone knows and loves can be really exhausting as at this point in the evening he's looking for some down time. preferably alone, but by the time he's at the bar he's seen dumage and can't really avoid her. so he takes a seat next to her and greets her with a smile.]

I thought you looked a little lonely.

[Spike too, can often be found in the hotel bar. Tonight, he slides in next to Dumage, giving her a smile.]

[Des doesn't particularly want to sit around and pow-wow with the Knights, because he is a ~lone wolf~ and lone wolfs go off and do their own thing, and because he was all but banned from New Orleans the last time he was here... Well, it makes a guy nostalgic, actually being in the city again.

So he's wandering, taking in the little-known parts of the city, seeing if the paths he used to know are the same or if time's knocked them down a few pegs and given him something else to immortal angst over.]

[Spike likes hanging out in alleys. Because he's a creeper.

And also because he wants to smoke.

So he's hanging out in an alley with a cigarette. It's very lurky and mysterious.]

[The weird, niggling familiarity Spike's been feeling whenever he looks at Finnick has finally come to light thanks to some Passions reruns. So he storms out into the living area to confront him about it.]

[Finnick was just chillin', lounging on the couch. Watching TV. Until Spike got all up in his face. wtf??? ]

[Okay boys are allowed to crash the party...

It had started out as a night in to watch movies and eat junk food. It wasn't Myrilandel's idea (because, well, she doesn't know any movies and what is junk food???) but she came along for the ride.

Buffy and Myri's room at the hotel is now a palace of pampering for any of the girls who are on the mission. If the hotel bedrooms didn't come with tvs, then I guess they stole the one from the living room, because... I said so...]

I very much like this... what did you call it? Popcorn?

[Cut her some slack. She's still learning.]

[ it was buffy's idea and she was fully prepared to take absolute responsibility for dragging every girl she could into her and myri's room to watch movies and flip through fashion magazines and voice-over chinese action movies.

she stretched across the bed to dig in the popcorn bowl, popping a few kernels into her mouth. ] Popped corn. Greatest invitation since the bread-slicer. [ she flipped a few pages of the magazine in front of her as she chewed through the handful of popcorn. ]

wandering out and about [ buffy, anyone ]

[ there's a lot of live music in the streets in new orleans, and the general liveliness of the city draws buffy out into the streets when the sun goes down and it's clear that there's no particular work to be done that night. it's no mardi gras, of course, but there's jazz and people mingling in the streets down on frenchman and bourbon street and she's hanging around, enjoying it with a smile. whoever's welcome to join her.

of course, eventually, she's bound to get overstimulated by the crowds and wind up ducking away into an alley for some peace, quiet and time alone that's lacking in bright, artificial light. it's also legit to come find her when she does this loner thing. ]

[Spike is enjoying the New Orleans general liveliness, especially since so much of it happens at night. His days might be filled with boredom and wondering if the sewers and subways of the city connect up in some sort of useful way, but on nights when he doesn't have mission things to do, he can party.

He's already had a few drinks when he catches Buffy's scent, and a few moments later, he sees her going into an alley. Without thinking about how following girls into alleys is kind of sketchy, he... does that. Hey, she's been on a pretty good not punching Spike streak. Maybe it's okay.]

[Duck into (1) one street and hear the dulcet sounds of someone playing a harmonica off-key. That counts as peace and quiet, right?

Yes, Buffy, it's Des. Here to annoy you more. At least he looks... happier than he did before he agreed to go on this trip. This city, man.] Not getting into the spirit, are you?

[Finnick is dedicated to his role. Maybe not RDJ in Tropic Thunder dedicated, but he would still like to make a good impression. And it gives him something to do. So here he is, pacing around the hotel living room with a small handful of papers (song lyrics) trying to sing. His level of talent (slightly above average, but only slightly) remains stable.]

[Across the room, Myri is quiet and tries not to disturb him. She'd heard the lie they had come up with and wonders just how far it will get them. As he ends some song, or maybe just a part of it, Myri claps lightly and steps out into view.]

You're very good. [She says with a genuine smile.]

[Myri doesn't sleep in. As far as she knows, she's the first one up, so she gathers up Amaranth and heads out to the balcony to sit and watch the city rouse from its slumber.

It's quiet and peaceful and gives a girl a lot of time to think.

Which is clearly why you should bother her.]

[finnick didn't intend to wake up early, it just ... happened. he's a restless sleeper and has a lot of nightmares. instead of trying to go back to sleep or potentially waking up arthur by doing shit in their room, he decides to take himself outside and enjoy some time on the balcony. he's spent a lot of time there on this trip, but whatevs. it's quiet and there's a nice view.

he didn't expect to see myri out on the balcony, too, but it doesn't stop him from coming out and sitting with her.]
