[ This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans. Because we haven't finished out the other two logs yet, assume some time has passed since then, in case anyone was injured, so that they've had sufficient time to get better.

As for work stuff, you can assume they've been busy with establishing Finnick's fake rock star cred, and investigating some of the intel they'll uncover in those other logs that we haven't quite gotten to yet. JUST DON'T TALK ABOUT WORK and all will be well.


Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever.]

[Spike reaches over and squeezes her shoulder.] We'll not let anyone or anything hurt you, love. Even if they do eavesdrop on our brains. But we can change the subject, if it helps.

And considering the kind of people we might be going up against, she might be on to something.

People are going to be eavesdropping on our brains?

[rationalizes]

We have telepaths in our organization. It isn't unthinkable that they do as well.

[Spike frowns.] Do we eavesdrop on other's brains, then?

[slay]

Only when we have reason to. [ she recalls talking to said telepath. ] They don't enjoy being up there any more than we enjoy them doing it. [ she reaches over to put a hand over myri's because she opts for more subtle reassurance than spike and doesn't want the rest of the group to see her thinking myri needs the consoling. there's a fleeting look of sympathy, then she's back to business. i hope myri enjoys her parents :| ]

[Myri loves her parents, okay. She glances at both of them, lifting the corners of her mouth into a smile. It's been a long time since she had anyone to worry about her. And despite the fact that she's fine and only wanted to use her past to help her present, she appreciates the sentiment a great deal.

She'll keep quiet for a little while, though. She doesn't want to bring the group down. And she honestly doesn't know the logistics of thought reading- just that it exists.]

[ dumage gives a cynical snort at that ]

Of course, that's what they'd say.

[ there's a hard scowl that dumage gets for that. ]

I know a liar when I see one. Tell me, does it ever get tiring being suspicious of everyone but yourself?

Is that because you can read minds yourself, or ... ? [his tone isn't curious, it's snitty. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING PARANOID AND DISTRUSTFUL OF EVERYONE X( ]

[ for your snitty tone, you get a Look in response, finnick. ] No. But, this paranoia doesn't help anyone. If we can't trust each other, then we have nothing.

But you can't know, can you? It's not like the mental invasion goes both ways.

[he's used to hunger games logic -- trust no one. not even your friends. bc you'll probably have to kill them eventually. and even though he's not in the arena anymore, it's a hard attitude to shake.] Trusting too much is just as much of a flaw as not trusting enough. [he throws back the rest of his drink to punctuate.]

No. You can't know. That's why it's called trust and not knowing. If you don't trust the knights or the people in it, why exactly are you here? For a free ride? Career opportunities?

I mean it. I wanna hear this. 'Cause, you know, I kinda thought we were all here because we trusted that we're doing good.

The Knights provide the resources and opportunity to use our skills. That doesn't mean we have to blindly believe all our fellow Knights - even Wynn himself - always have the greater good in mind. That's ignoring basic human nature.

[shootfirst]

And I'm sure you'd know all about base human nature. [ SLUT ]

[rationalizes]

I think the Knights have certainly proven themselves to be a philanthropic organization by now, and as for Wynn--

[ /slinking into his seat ]

I thought we were... changing the subject.

I can think of a lot of other places your "skills" could be used, lady. [ it comes off incredibly abrasive but there's not really a ... non-incredibly abrasive way for calling dumage a prostitute to come off. still, she practically snarls it. but she does seem to take mark's quiet slinky behavior to heart and backs off a little after that, frustration quieting as she moves away from the bar some. but UGH dumage. she just sets her jaw, tongue in cheek, and shakes her head. ]

[EXCUSE YOU SOME OF US AT THE TABLE ACTUALLY WERE PROSTITUTES.] Maybe you should share them with the table.

[rationalizes]

[ Gar is AGHAST.

[Okay. That's it. Myri slams a fist to the table in frustration, trying to grab the attention of the lot of them ]

Listen to yourselves! You're acting like children. And moreover, you're going to get us all killed with your carelessness!

[ she's ready to flounce but myri's eruption stops her because ... well, first of all, it's myri erupting and since when does that happen. second of all, she's right. buffy blinks and her shoulders ease some of the tension out. she shakes her head and sighs. ]

So much for relaxation time.

[w e l p. this has been very educational. finnick stares down into the bottom of his glass like if he does so long enough it will refill itself.]
