[ This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans. Because we haven't finished out the other two logs yet, assume some time has passed since then, in case anyone was injured, so that they've had sufficient time to get better.

As for work stuff, you can assume they've been busy with establishing Finnick's fake rock star cred, and investigating some of the intel they'll uncover in those other logs that we haven't quite gotten to yet. JUST DON'T TALK ABOUT WORK and all will be well.

I think we missed it. But if we're here another year... [He may like New Orleans better than England, but that sounds like an awfully long time to be stuck in one place doing one thing. Maybe it's because he can't even remember back a year.]

Have you heard her? Somehow, I don't think a year would bug. [ her. but it would obviously bug buffy since she's anti-sticking around for months on end. ] Not that I'm exactly eager to get back to a steady diet of bangers and mash, myself. Just ... [ she shrugs. a beat passes. ] So. Big fun out on the street and you in a dark alley. Why the skulk?

[bigbad]

Oh, uh, I wasn't-- I just saw you turn in here. Thought I'd say hi. [If that's okay. He's not sure it is, but they've been on pretty good terms since that last fight on the airplane, and he's feeling optimistic.]

[slay]

Oh. Uh ... Well, hi. [ she blinks, a little surprised by that. ] I was just trying to get some air.

[bigbad]

Too much big fun? [He smirks at her.] Guess I can understand that. [Even if he'd been enjoying himself.]

[slay]

[ there's a hollow chuckle. ] Uh, yeah. Something like that. Lots of people, not lots of sleep. [ why is she telling him this??? ] It's no big.

[bigbad]

Still? [He tilts his head. He remembers way back when they were friends and discussed it in the kitchen.]

[slay]

[ she quiets, looking a little put on the spot by that, and then just nods. she reaches up to brush her hair aside, fingers combing through it a little. ] Yeah. Still.

[bigbad]

[He has a sudden urge to touch her, comfort her somehow, as if that could make her sleep better. It would probably just make her punch him. So he keeps his distance.]

Anything I can do?

[ if she looks surprised by the question, it's ... well, because she is. but the surprise wanes, because duh, just being polite. or just being seriously wanting of getting in her pants. she grimaces inwardly, recalling des' certainty. ]

Not unless you know an insta-cure for crazy. [ the word's harsh, but with everything she's been through since the start of the year, it feels accurate. seeing things -- people -- that other people didn't see. having these dreams. totally losing it on the mission with jade. she shakes her head, giving a dry chuckle to disguise how badly she wants to just lose it and cry like she had with jack. ]

Forget it. I'm fine. I mean, obviously. Hello, totally insta-K.O.'d that guy back at the museum. I'm top of my game, sleep or no sleep. [ she quickly corrects; ] Minimal sleep.

[bigbad]

[She sure doesn't sound fine. K.O.ing or not. And Spike really does look less than convinced. He probably shouldn't pry. But that doesn't really stop him.]

Thinking you're crazy doesn't exactly scream of being okay, pet.

[slay]

[ she gives a totally unconvincing smile. ] Well, I am. Okay. Really. { a beat. her lips purse. ] So, just ... put away the concerned face.

[bigbad]

[...she doesn't want him asking about it. The recent non-violence and peace offering of... a piece of paper with scribbles on it don't change how little she likes him. He sighs and attempts to look less concerned. It's about as convincing as her smile.]

Want to get a drink? Might help with the sleeping thing.

[slay]

That would probably take drinks plural. [ she says it sheepishly, but then nods. ] But, one's a start. [ she folds her arms over her chest, shoulders hunching and then moves to head back out of the alley with him. it's not until she reaches the threshold of the street that her brain goes oh fuck this better not be a sneaky date thing. stupid guys and their stupid hard to read... ness ... ]

[bigbad]

That bad, huh? [He looks almost amused, but he doesn't snark about it too much. He's surprised enough that she accepted. Either it's even worse than she's let on, or she's actually warming up to him enough that the thought doesn't send her reaching for the nearest stake.] Come on. I saw a place that looked all right about half a block down.

[slay]

You remember the blood room? [ she gives a grimace of a nod. ] Every night. [ so that would be the first one. okay kind of a combination. she immediately regrets saying it, but it's the explanation she never gave him. so she kind of owes him at least that much of a tell. ]

[bigbad]

Bloody hell. [Wow. Both that she told him and that every night. He sure does remember the blood room.] You'll definitely need more drinks.

[slay]

I keep thinking I should, y'know, ask Kat for a - a potion, o-or something. So that I don't dream? [ she rushes it out so that she doesn't stop herself. ] But, I don't -- [ and there it is. the stopping happening. she ducks her head, quieting. ]

[bigbad]

[Spike wrinkles his nose.] Magic. [He glances over at her.] I mean, uh, maybe it could help. I just... don't trust it, really. I get why you wouldn't.

[slay]

... Yeah. [ her voice is airy and there's a flicker of a feigned smile. no. it's not lack of trust in magic, it's inability to make herself vulnerable like that and ask for help. she's dealing. ish. she avoids his gaze as she lies her confirmation. ]

[bigbad]

[He touches her shoulder, just briefly, then pauses as they reach the door.] It's, uh, right here. Maybe it'll do you good.

[slay]

Here's hoping. [ she moves to open the door and hold it for him. ]

[bigbad]

[He gives her a bit of a smile as he passes her and heads to the bar.] What do you like drinking?

[slay]

Ammmnesia, remember? [ she hunches her shoulders as she heads inside, shrugging. ] Beer is -- Just beer's fine. [ she lingers, pointing. ] I'll, uh. I'll grab a table. [ she wanders in another direction to let him handle the drinks, pulling up on a bar stool at a small, round table set aside from the bar itself. ]

[He gives her a surprised look, but he goes to get the drinks. After a moment, he returns with two beers. He hands her one, keeping the other for himself.] Amnesia? You're singing my song, pet. Something you haven't been telling us?
