Huh? [Andie pauses and looks up, popping one earbud out.] What do you mean what's wrong?

[ she points to the screen ] Someone's sitting on the fast forward button.

Oh, it's just easier for me to watch that way.

Your mind actually processes things faster?

[asap]

I everything faster. So yeah.

Everything, hmm? [ smirk ]

Yep! Well, within reason. I mean there are some things that I just have to slow down for and it's annoying.

I suppose it's no stranger than living with other types of powers. It just takes some adjusting.

Yeah, exactly! And I've been adjusting all my life, so kinda used to it.

So how do you manage tasks that involve working slowly?

[asap]

Dad taught me some meditative techniques. It's not easy, but I can manage. It's how I can talk to you right now.

I imagine no one ever dared give you any sugar as a child.

Actually, they had to give me lots. I mean complex carbohydrates and proteins are better, but... [She shrugs.] My metabolism's way fast too. I burn through calories like that. [She snaps.]

Well, I certainly hope we've budgeted for enough food on this trip.

Me too! [Andie hadn't been worried, but now she's thinking about it.] But Wynn knows how much people in my family eat so probably?

I take it that means the Knighthood runs in your family?

[asap]

Yeah, my mom and my dad. Dad's retired, though, and Mom's been gone since I was two.

[wildmind]

I'm sorry to hear that.

[asap]

[She shrugs.] That was like, a gazillion years ago in speedster terms.

[wildmind]

So you're saying you have lifetimes of experience already?

[asap]

...I don't think it exactly works like that. But sort of? Mostly lifetimes of waiting around for everyone else to catch up with me.

Must have cultivated a lot of patience at least. We could probably use that on this mission.

[asap]

[She grimaces a little.] Yeah, but... it's not like it's real patience. Me being patient is waiting forever to hear you finish a sentence. Me being patient looks a lot like anyone else being impatient.
