[ As missions go, it's pretty straightforward. A week ago, a large, creepy looking castle materialized on a cliffside above a small town in Portugal, and the locals are too freaked to go check it out. No one's gone in or out, and theoretically it could just be empty. But seeing as how it probably came from the Shadow World, it could also house artifacts that the Knights should get their hands on before evil doers do. So it's their job to scope it out, maybe loot the place of the good stuff, and make sure no threats are hiding there.

Val'drin surveys the place with hands on his hips from the gate. ]

I believe the phrase is a 'fixer upper'.

[ and with a 21, hot damn, fred lands in a crouch on his feet, and then stands, shooting a Look at Deadpool. ]

And yet still, you threw the grenade?

[ he turns away to glance back at thoster. ] You alright? [ they seem to be in a small, dark chamber, though the sound of dripping water to their right makes it clear that it opens up in that direction. ]

Aye, I'll be fine once the room stops spinning. [But he's too proud to worry about the head wound right now.]

Suppose we'd better get moving. [He glances to the right, towards the sound.] This way?

Hey, the grenade could have made the trap blow up without us! [He draws his beretta which is a kind of gun I have recently learned and starts walking towards the sound.]

The good news is that trap's probably been in place for years. It doesn't look like this place has exactly seen a lot of action. So I don't think anybody's home. [ the passage way opens up into a narrow dark hall, the walls made of stone, and wet to the touch. there's hardly any light whatsoever, and the passage curves, making it impossible to see ahead even with a light. LISTEN CHECKS YO. ]

Shouldn't be too tough to find our way back up to the others then. What's it they say? Nowhere to go but up?

[Well, apparently that blow to the head woke Thoster up and made him more aware of his surroundings- because he got a nat 20 listen check.]

[Listen check..... 9. Luckily Thoster's paying attention.]

[ Thoster can hear it then, where no one else can, an eerie melody that seems to be floating down to them from somewhere in the recesses of the castle. A morose song from a single stringed instrument. ]

I'm gonna buy you a new book of sayings for your Knighting ceremony.

[Well, that's quaint. The bard catches the song. He holds up a hand and makes a quick sh to try to quiet the two.]

D'you hear that? Music. [He takes a few steps, trying to gauge whether the sound seems closer or farther, trying to pinpoint the location, essentially.]

[Deadpool listens quietly for a moment. Then he shoots a few rounds into the darkness. He's an awesome problem solver.]

Yeah, cuz I woulda hated for them to not realize we were coming or anything. [ he clasps a hand on deadpool's shoulder ] I think you killed that big bad shadow, Tex.

[ meanwhile thoster's radar hearing leads him up the hallway a bit to where a single grate is set halfway up the wall, with bars about half a foot apart each. ]

[Thoster's just walkin away from you two fools. He's hunting that sound down like a champ. Once he gets to the grate, he turns back.]

Think I may have found something. Unless you two want to be alone for a minute.

I don't know. I think we were bonding. Was that a bonding moment? [Nevertheless, he walks over to Thoster.]

[ fred jr. follows, smirking ] I don't think it counts if we talk about it. [ he comes to a halt in front of the grate as well, and then idly reaches up and yanks on one of the bars (str check 20). the rusted bar... breaks right off in his hand. ] ... Hope that was insured.

[He raises an eyebrow at Fred.] Now you're just showing off. [He peers in at the grate, then back at the two guys.]

It's got to lead somewhere, right?

Maybe some badgers are holding a concert. [He claps Thoster on the shoulder.] You go first!

No offense, but I don't think he's slim enough yet. [ he reaches up and yanks another bar off as if it were nothing...

and doesn't seem to notice the noise of approaching splashing sounds in the corridor, coming closer. maybe if someone else can get a listen check of 13 or higher, they actually will .__. ]

Let's let our friend here get the rest of these bars off and we'll see if all's well for someone to slide through.

Hold a minute. [He turns his head towards the sound]

[Whoops, listen check 4. Deadpool doesn't hear a thing, but he hefts his gun at Thoster's words because fourth wall check 15.]

[ fred pauses to turn and look that away... and what should appear in the tunnel... but a twelve foot long scaly motherfucker. time to roll some initiative up in dis bitch ... just a bracket ooc comment is fine! ]

[Hey. Hey everyone? Remember Thoster's head wound? Yeah, he's not exactly battle ready right now. But don't tell him that, because he's just fucking going for it. Assuming that he can ready his weapon, make the move action and attack, he'll do just that.

...And I shit you not, he rolled a nat 20 for attack. 12 damage.
