Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Spike's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Hide members - the largest sect in the castle, with the most representatives here, and Lan, Wynn, and Dovan wait up at the front of the room for Spike to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. 

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Spike."

[ i'll have you know, i first read that as he 'actually looks pretty'. ]

Sir Spike. You have demonstrated a commitment to the ideals of this organization that has been deemed sufficient to induct you into our order as a full Knight of the Silver Dragon. We ask at this time that you answer this question honestly:

Do you wish to accept this position?

[bigbad]

[That too.

Spike doesn't have to think before he answers. This is his family, or as close to one as he has. And they're doing good work.]

I do.

[Is that crunching behind him? Who brought popcorn? It's bloody distracting.]

[wynn]

Do you swear to respect all weaknesses, and constitute yourself the Defender of them?

[bigbad]

I do.

[wynn]

Do you swear to make war against injustice, without cessation and without mercy?

[bigbad]

Bloody right, I do. [Kicking injustice's ass is the fun part.]

[wynn]

[ Wynn doesn't even break stride for that ]

Do you swear never to lie, and to remain faithful to your pledged word?

[bigbad]

I do.

[...at least loosely. He'll try.]

[wynn]

Do you swear to be generous, and to listen to and respect all?

[bigbad]

I do.

[wynn]

[And he fixes Spike with a critical eye, as if making certain he thinks most deeply upon this one:]

Do you swear to be everywhere and always the champion of the right and the good against injustice and evil?

[bigbad]

[He hesitates because he knows he wants to, but he still isn't sure he can. What if everything he's read and everything Buffy's said is right about vampires being evil? What if he's right about there being some sort of mind control?

But he doesn't need to think for long. His doubts are all based on maybes and paranoia. He wants to be a champion. It feels right.]

I do.

Sir Ironsides. [ He speaks to the dwarf without turning to look at him. ] Do you accept Sir Spike as a member of the Dragon's Hide?

[ironsides]

[ The dwarf waddles forward, standing there to scrutinize Spike from the step. ]

Do you swear to stand as the sword and shield to protect this Knighthood from harm?

[bigbad]

[This isn't as far to look up now.]

Yeah. I do.

[ironsides]

Then by the power of my office, I grant thee the title of Full Knight of the Dragon's Hide! [ He moves to swat a hand hard onto Riddick's shoulder ] Rise and take your place up here, lad.

[bigbad]

[Spike stands up, grinning, and pounds his fist in the air in triumph, turning to face the crowd.]
