Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Spike's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Hide members - the largest sect in the castle, with the most representatives here, and Lan, Wynn, and Dovan wait up at the front of the room for Spike to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. 

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Spike."

[SPIKE REALLY HATES THIS ARMOUR but whatever he's here, and he... actually looks pretty happy. He's got all his cool friends here, and he never has to see Lan's stupid face again. So he swaggers up, sparing a glance over at his friends so he throw them all a grin, then he stops in front of Wynn and kneels.]

[ i'll have you know, i first read that as he 'actually looks pretty'. ]

Sir Spike. You have demonstrated a commitment to the ideals of this organization that has been deemed sufficient to induct you into our order as a full Knight of the Silver Dragon. We ask at this time that you answer this question honestly:

Do you wish to accept this position?

[bigbad]

[That too.

Spike doesn't have to think before he answers. This is his family, or as close to one as he has. And they're doing good work.]

I do.

[Is that crunching behind him? Who brought popcorn? It's bloody distracting.]

[wynn]

Do you swear to respect all weaknesses, and constitute yourself the Defender of them?

[bigbad]

I do.

I didn't miss anything painfully exciting, did I? [ yeah buffy is sneaking in right as it starts because she wanted to bring popcorn. that's not rude is it ... she's offering some out to kat, anyway. ]

[ kat digs her hand right in and stuffs her face full before talking. it's v. attractive. ]

They haven't made him swallow garlic or walk across a bed of crosses yet, so no.

That's a strange ritual. [Myri doesn't understand your vampire references. But she does like popcorn. Steeealing.]

You'll have a much easier time at it than Spike will. [ she pops some popcorn in her mouth, mulling it over and then looking to kat, considering. ] Think it'd be in bad taste to eat during that part?

No. But it might be in bad taste for your waistline.

[Sup, all. Spike's gotten rid of all that annoying armour and is now hanging out in his leather jacket again, looking smug and awesome because he's officially a knight and clearly this is the greatest accomplishment ever.]

[slay]

I'd ask if you feel any different, but you look exactly as smug as you did before Wynn got all formalities guy on you again. [ she extends the hand with the bowl of popcorn anyway to offer him some. ]

[witchwoman]

[Popcorn is for suckers and will have to wait a second because you're getting another incoming Myri hug, Spike (this is her thing now. but just with Spike, apparently. it's pretty ironic, considering.)]

You were wonderful!

[bigbad]

[Oh, Buffy, he forgives you for everything. He takes a handful of popcorn and starts to eat it, only to drop it in the wake of rampaging Myri hugs. But he's okay with that because he likes her better than popcorn, so he just hugs her back, his grin suddenly a little less smug and a little more genuine.] Thanks, love. I'm glad you were there. [He glances back up at Buffy.] I think I feel even smugger than before. It's not showing?

Guess the right levels of pompous are something you're just gonna have to work on. I'm sure you could get lessons from Christos.

[Hey, it is the greatest accomplishment ever, ok. And Francesca finds his smug look endearing, so she'll approach him with a smile and an outstretched hand.] Congrats.

[bigbad]

[He grins as she approaches, taking her hand and pulling her into a quick, enthusiastic hug.] Thanks, love. I'm glad you came.

[She's a little surprised by the embrace, but is quick to reciprocate. She pulls back with an even bigger smile.] Wouldn't miss it. And I think the fact that your survived Lan's tutelage grants you further congratulations.

[ironsides]

[ there's a hearty guffaw from behind her... and down quite a few inches, as the signature clanging of metal that accompanies Sir Ironsides' trotting heralds his approaching. ]

I'd tell ya to be glad it was me who heard that little remark, but I'm sure Lan would take it as a compliment!

[ mark swaggers up eventually, with a big, goofy smile on his face ] Hey! Congratulations... section buddy. [ he highlights the phrase by jabbing his elbow against Spike's ]

[Oh god, someone stake him. Is it too late to move to any other section at all?]

...We're not making friendship bracelets.

[ he looks a little wounded at the comment ] Sorry, I just thought we were... I mean, you know...
