[[ Several of the Knights discovered a secret room hidden in Nova Headquarters, full of strange occultish paraphernalia and guarded by monstrous warriors. Amid this was direct evidence of an interest in the Talisman. They also took captive Chad Becksworth's personal assistant, Olean Gilbert, who has information about the location of the mysterious woman that Burt told Finnick about - the one whose presence has had a major effect on Chad's personality. Olean doesn't even know the woman's name, calling her the "Mind Master", and identifying her as Chad's 'advisor'.

The Knights also discovered that the other Dragon's Claw, Sir Jack Chessing, had followed his own secret mission to Nova Headquarters, and he'll be meeting back at the hotel with them to explain what brought him there...

This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next two weeks.

Yeah, too bad there aren't convenient devices we can use to let each other know when our paths will cross. You know. Like phones.

[Spike's perched on the arm of the couch. He probably shouldn't mouth off at one of the Dragon's Claws, especially not in front of the other one, but he's annoyed on Buffy's behalf. He knows how much Buffy's wanted guidance and mentorship, and here her knight is in their city and he hadn't even thought to let them know. Buffy probably won't be rude about it. But Spike's not that nice. He'll be rude if he wants.]

[rationalizes]

[ gar shifts uncomfortably at spike's tone, a note of warning in her voice. ] Spike...

[chessing]

[ meanwhile, jack just raises one eyebrow at spike's sassiness, but doesn't seem off put by it. ]

The last update I'd received regarding your mission indicated your team had been recalled to England. The details of what I've been working on are very need-to-know, but unfortunately, given that they led me here, it seems they all may affect your lot after all.

[bancroft]

[ thomas casually waves a hand ] So what does Sarandis have to do with all this? I'm dying to hear. [ he flashes a predatory smile ]

[dragonsclaw]

I thought you might have encountered him. [ he gives a tiny sigh and walks across the room, looking at the others, as he explains for their benefit ] I came here tailing Prime Minister Dimitris Sarandis, leader of Andre's Isle, and one of the Knights' most dangerous, manipulative enemies. I've been working undercover for months on the Isle, but until recently, had no indication that there was a link between Sarandis and Becksworth.

He's here for a meeting, along with a young woman named Rynn. A singer, who he ostensibly looks to invest in.

[slay]

Well, as far as I know, none of us have met any prime ministers of anywhere. But, if he's got a singer that he's trying to connect with Becksworth, Finnick might have talked to her. [ she looks to him in search of confirmation or denial of the assumption. ]

[bigbad]

We saw him when we were crawling around the ducts, I think. [Okay, Spike doesn't know for sure, but how many Prime Ministers are around at any given time?]

[witchwoman]

[Myri remains quiet, trying to take in as much information as possible. She's always a little on edge around newcomers, so she'll just be absorbing most of this conversation.]

[bancroft]

It was definitely him, alright. Here for a personal meeting with Becksworth and several others, but it's been delayed until Chad shows up. We heard him talking to that one. [ he jerks his thumb towards the door where olean is stashed ] Who also spilled that he knows where Becksworth's 'advisor' is, a woman who makes him all but piss himself, who seems to hold a lot of influence over Chad.

[ he leans forward ] And the others found a little meeting room for some sort of secret cabal. Two plus two seems to indicate Sarandis is a member of it. Which only seems to hold true since...

[rationalizes]

Since according to Wynn, Sarandis has a history of working against Shadowkind in his own country?

[chessing]

[ jack nods grimly ] We seem to have a conspiracy on our hands that stretches much further than we initially believed.

Thomas, I think it would be best if we both tailed Sarandis at this point. Some of the other Knights must remain on watch at NOVA Records for signs of Becksworth's return, we'll need at least two to guard the prisoner, and a small team to see what they can discover about this adviser. [ he looks thoughtful, as he examines the group, taking stock of what they have to work with in order to figure out what else must be done, and done soon ]

[slay]

Anyone ever notice how just when we think this can't get bigger and badder, it finds a way? [ she looks around, because snark is the best way to deal with feeling out of your depth. after a beat, she says decisively; ] I don't know about you guys, but personally I'd like to get to know the lady who's got our illustrious captive wigging like this.

[dragonsclaw]

[ jack gives her a small tight smile at her appraisal of the situation. ] I was going to suggest you take part in that particular mission.

[bancroft]

Kat, why don't you see if you hack into the online appointment book for Chad, and see if we can figure out the names of who all is coming to this special meeting of his?

[shootfirst]

Fine. But I might have to actually be in the building to do it. I'll need somebody to cover for me, make sure no one's coming. [ she looks over at mark and then nudges him in the side. ] He'll do.

[he shook his head at buffy about 20 years ago when she asked if he'd talked to rynn. ftr.] I'm always available for a distraction, you know.

[bigbad]

[Spike looks over to Buffy.] I'll come with you. You'll need the back-up.

[slay]

[ jack's answer surprises her, because having oversight is weird. she looks a little surprised and then just quickly nods. ]

I -- Right. I mean, I probably should have -- B-But, good. Glad we're all same page-y. [ because it hadn't occurred to her to wait and see his recommendation since she hasn't had it all year. she looks over at spike with a grateful nod. ]

[shootfirst]

Alright, so Mister Megastar will run a distraction, Mark'll monitor my position, and I'll hack in. Myri, you wanna keep a watch on the lobby for Becksworth to arrive?

[rationalizes]

I'll go with the Mind Master team in order to keep an eye on Gilbert. We don't need him escaping in the middle of the mission and causing trouble.

[ she shifts in her seat, eyes moving to rafael ] There's something else we should probably mention, about the meeting we had with Burt.

[romanticidal]

[ oh right, says raf's face ] I signed a contract with Signore Becksworth. It will give me access to the building as well. But it is only a temporary arrangement. I do not plan to follow through on creating an album for him or staying with the company. I do not desire to be a part of NOVA.

[postergirl]

Ooo, planning to break a contract. [ dumage smirks from where she sits next to a tense mark ] A really bad boy you brought home. [ she tosses a wink at buffy ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri nods to Kat.] I can alert you or Mark if I see him.

[slay]

Rafael ... [ there's vivid concern painting her expression, too distracting for dumage's snark to really pierce her. she looks around like maybe she shouldn't, but if anyone in this room's gonna get away with questioning with him, it's her - lbr. ]

Was that such a good idea? I mean, we know these guys are mixed up in complete and utter badness, what if they've got ways of. You know. Making you? Like ... like a magic contract. I mean, obviously physical mafia-esque enforcement would be a lost cause, but ... [ she's worried. she's stupidly worried because it's a little too late to ask these questions, and she knows it, but she has to point it out. ]

[Ugh, gross, does she have to go so moon-eyed over the guy?]

I'm sure they'd have mentioned that in the fine print.
