[[ Several of the Knights discovered a secret room hidden in Nova Headquarters, full of strange occultish paraphernalia and guarded by monstrous warriors. Amid this was direct evidence of an interest in the Talisman. They also took captive Chad Becksworth's personal assistant, Olean Gilbert, who has information about the location of the mysterious woman that Burt told Finnick about - the one whose presence has had a major effect on Chad's personality. Olean doesn't even know the woman's name, calling her the "Mind Master", and identifying her as Chad's 'advisor'.

The Knights also discovered that the other Dragon's Claw, Sir Jack Chessing, had followed his own secret mission to Nova Headquarters, and he'll be meeting back at the hotel with them to explain what brought him there...

This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next two weeks.

[Elena's small supply of cash that she had tucked into her pocket is slowly being damaged by the need to eat, and she's too sheepish to ask others for it. Besides, with what's happened, she hasn't been quite as hungry as she normally would be, too lost in thought to remember every meal.

She's sitting in the hotel bar and grill alone with a plate of french fries and a water with lemon and a book that she got in the gift shop.

It's not a particularly good book, but it'll do to pass some of the hours until she knows what they're all going to do next.]

[Myri's tried to keep an eye on Elena without being too obvious about it. But it's actually coincidence when she walks past the hotel restaurant and spots the young woman. Tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, she steps in and immediately is accosted by an overly eager hostess. She quietly gestures to Elena, explaining that she's meeting with a friend and continues her way in.]

Do you mind if I join you? [She pauses, one hand on the empty chair across the table. Like usual, she puts on a warm smile. She's just naturally friendly, okay?]

[Elena looks up at the other girl before she slips a torn piece of paper in the book to mark her spot and closing it.]

Not at all. [Her smile is equally warm.] I'd like the company.

[witchwoman]

[She pulls out the chair and sits.]

I hope you aren't too bored. We've been a little scattered, trying to piece things together. It should go more smoothly when we return to London.

[She shakes her head.]

No, it's been fine. To be honest, boring isn't so bad sometimes. The alternative usually means something bad has happened.

[Though, in reality, she does like excitement in her life. She just knows that that's not always the best thing for everyone.]

If you can believe it, all of this is actually less frantic than where I came from.

[She chuckles.]

From the little that I remember, I think I can sympathize.

[witchwoman]

Eventually we'll get you back to London and you can meet all the others.

I'm really excited to see London and meet everyone else. [When you don't know if you've ever been anywhere, everything's new.] I hope they like me.

[witchwoman]

Of course they'll like you. [She remembers what it was like to come into the the Knights and be so impossibly new.

She reaches out and covers one of Elena's hands with her own.]

In fact, I'd bet they love you.

[Her friendly smile shifts into something warmer. She's discovering that she's very lucky to have run into her and her friends first. Very, very lucky.]

[ and it turns out she's sitting two spots down from gar, who hasn't really had much time to speak to her yet, but they've been introduced briefly at the hotel with the flurry of others. she's got a pile of books in front of her and is drinking a coffee... which she manages to abruptly knock over and spill all over her text. she leaps up and tries desperately to wipe it off. ] Oh bother!

[The sound catches her attention, and she looks up from her book to see her coffee spilled over the table, splashed across her books. She gets up from the table immediately, grabbing the small pile of napkins her waitress had left for her.]

Here. [She hands over a couple a couple of them.] I'll help.

[rationalizes]

Oh, thank you! [ she scrabbles miserably to wipe off some sopping pages ] I can't believe I just did that.

[notaroundme]

[She does the same, pulling books out of the wetness and setting them aside so they don't get worse.]

It was just an accident. It happens.

[She just hopes she didn't spill on anything too important, if only to spare her any trouble.]

[rationalizes]

[ ... welp ] Some of these were books I pulled from the library back home. [ she says the word 'library' with enough reverence to make it clear either that she puts a lot of stock in the sanctity of books or that it's a really impressive collection. maybe both. ]

[She frowns, but tries to stay positive.]

Well, let's see what we can do before we worry too much.

[She continues to attempt to dry off some of the areas that were less fortunate.]

[rationalizes]

I suppose this is why I shouldn't eat and do research at the same time.

[Once they've gotten the coffee itself cleaned up, Elena starts to wipe off the books she sets aside.]

These seem fine, at least. Maybe if we use one of the hair dryers in our rooms on the wetter pages? So long as we keep the heat low, we might be able to dry these better than just leaving them out.

[rationalizes]

Y-yes, I suppose that might just do the trick! [ she helps gather the rest in her arms and nods towards the stairs ] Shall we?

[She nods once they both manage to scoop everything up into their arms. Making sure to be careful not to drop anything, she follows her lead towards the stairs.

She hopes this works, though she doesn't see why it wouldn't.]

It's times like these I wish I knew a bit of magic myself. I imagine an archmage never worries about spills.

[They start heading up, Elena moving at a quick pace. The sooner they can get to work on these, the better.]

Is magic a common thing in the Knights?

[Somehow the thought of magic isn't all that startling to her. She wonders if she used to be familiar with it.]

[rationalizes]

As common as anything else we specialize in, you might say. The knighthood is divided into sections: and our mages are only one of those sections. Although there are other magic users than just wizards and sorcerers: the Dragon's Light has several clerics who get spells from their deities... and even members of other sects occasionally supplement their skill sets with some powers.

[She nods as they exit the stairwell onto Elena's floor.]

How big is the knighthood?

[It sounds bigger than she'd first imagined.]
