[[ Several of the Knights discovered a secret room hidden in Nova Headquarters, full of strange occultish paraphernalia and guarded by monstrous warriors. Amid this was direct evidence of an interest in the Talisman. They also took captive Chad Becksworth's personal assistant, Olean Gilbert, who has information about the location of the mysterious woman that Burt told Finnick about - the one whose presence has had a major effect on Chad's personality. Olean doesn't even know the woman's name, calling her the "Mind Master", and identifying her as Chad's 'advisor'.

The Knights also discovered that the other Dragon's Claw, Sir Jack Chessing, had followed his own secret mission to Nova Headquarters, and he'll be meeting back at the hotel with them to explain what brought him there...

This log covers any non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next two weeks.

Mostly? The difficulty of finding anything else. The novelty wore off somewhere around month two. [ she grabs one of the pamphlets from him, peering at it. ]

[bigbad]

[He snags it back.] Won't find your answer there. It's all gimmicks. And pricey gimmicks at that. You're better off finding the nearest MacDonald's.

[slay]

I think I prefer looking for myself, thanks. [ she snatches it back again, interested now that he seems interested in keeping it from her. ] Besides, McDonald's goes straight to your thighs, and not all of us have the advantage of being undead keeping us from worrying about it.

[bigbad]

[Whatever, Buffy, it's not that interesting. Some gimmicky boat tour or something. He rolls his eyes and lets her have it.] Like you'd be anything less than gorgeous even if you tried.

[slay]

[ that gives her pause. in fact, she looks downright stunned, because gorgeous? it's a strong word. but it reminds her of the way she'd begun to key into something more than friendly from him, and she quickly looks down at the pamphlet, keenly interested. ]

Ooh, look. Boat tours.

[bigbad]

[Wow, he could have meant gorgeous in a friendly way! You don't know!]

You did here the part about pricey and gimmicky, right?

[slay]

Right. Pricey, gimmicky, but still a great time-waster. [ she closes the pamphlet and smiles. ] I bet Rafael'll wanna go, he's all ... tourist-guy. Thanks.

[bigbad]

[THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT HE WANTED.] Or you could come with me and we could find something more interesting. Ask one of the locals, maybe. Rent a boat and go exploring on our own.

[slay]

And do you know how to drive a boat? [ steer, buffy. you steer a boat. ] I've seen enough of New Orleans. More than enough - honestly, I'm ready to chase this talisman elsewhere. But, Rafael just got here. I think it'd be nice.

[bigbad]

I could figure it out. [Spike eyes her, expression conflicted.] You really like him, don't you?

[slay]

[ she looks down at the pamphlet and fidgets with it for a moment. ]

He's here because I asked him to be. [ it's an avoidance of the question. yes, she likes him - not decisively in the way that spike's insinuating, but she likes him. the bigger part of it is that she feels obligated to him in a way, on account of the help he's choosing to provide, and his involvement in something this dangerous at all. ]

[bigbad]

[He tilts his head, watching her still.] That wasn't what I asked, love.

[slay]

I know what you're asking. [ it's said in an almost grouchy way. it's tough to answer because it's complicated. after a beat, she tries all the same. ] We're friends. I mean, before, I did kind of - but he was all hung up on Jade, and then he was so different from what I thought. I mean, not bad different, but - Well, then we went home, and seeing Val'drin again was ... [ she takes a breath, then reaffirms. ] We're friends.

[bigbad]

[That... is sort of helpful and sort of not. He likes her not dating Rafael, but he really doesn't like this Val'drin guy either.]

So.... you and Val'drin, then? [Don't mind Spike as he gets... all the gossip.]

[slay]

[ know your losers enemy. ]

I don't think it's anything serious. Definitely not what Rafael and Jade had.

[bigbad]

So essentially you could still see [me] other men. But not Rafael.

[slay]

I ... Well, I don't know. I mean, we didn't really talk about it. [ it's just her assumption based on him TRYING TO HOOK UP WITH HER IN THE BACK OF ONE OF THE KNIGHTS' OPEN USE VEHICLES. ]

[bigbad]

[He shakes his head at her, looking more amused than anything else now.] You've got a complicated love life, pet. [He's got no idea where that puts his chances with her.]

[slay]

I didn't used to. I didn't used to have one at all.

[bigbad]

Does seem to happen like that. [Or so he assumes. He hasn't been having much luck on that front, probably because he's fallen for someone who doesn't care for him in the same way.]

[slay]

Mmm. [ beat. ] What about you, have you had any ... special someones? Dates? Proposals of marriage?

[bigbad]

[He shakes his head.] Nothing serious. [He's got feelings for Buffy, but she doesn't share them. That's the end of his love story.]

[slay]

Guess none of us are really cut out for serious, huh? What with all the moving and working.

[bigbad]

Yeah. Makes it harder. Unless it's, you know, in-team dating or something. [He puts it out casually, but he sure is interested in seeing how she takes the idea.]

[slay]

You know, I did kinda think Kat and Gar had something for a while. But, I'm pretty sure Kat's just off the market altogether right now.
