[ Yesterday, members of team failboat went to the bayou hideout of the mysterious woman known only as "the Mind Master", on some intel from the captured Olean Gilbert. What they discovered was a very bizarre woman, who played mind games with them, and seemed to evince little concern for their interference. Another man, whom may have been Chad Becksworth entered, and told her that "Decker" was finished stalling and all was in readiness... The two of them fled before the Knights could get much information from either of them, and set a hideous creature to attack them: which appeared to be the result of a Frankenstein-like scientific process that sewed a human woman together with a giant snake.

The next day, another team of Knights infiltrated NOVA HQ to hack into appointment records and discover the names of those intended to meet with Chad Becksworth. Just as they downloaded the list, the scheduled meeting attendees arrived: it seemed they were meeting today, and the Dragon's Claws insisted that the younger Knights retire to the hotel, where all will be able to monitor the meeting onscreen as they spy on it and broadcast video. Knights' allies (Des, Rafael, Elena) are invited to watch as well. ]

[Since she chatted her up in the elevator and noticed dem horns, let's say Myri is checking on Rynn first. Plus, she's still not super confident on her research skillz so trying to tackle someone more menacing seems daunting.]

Never mind. [ myri's talk with her apparently paid off, because while it's very difficult to trace someone with no last name, she at least knows to search in europe. she finds records of an Arynna Pryce, who was a singer that performed in numerous venues around parts of the European continent. There's little in terms of records about her, aside from her involvement in a trial that involved murder several years ago. She was called as a witness, because she had been romantically involved with the accused, but there's no record of her statement, and the man seems to have been convicted and imprisoned. ]

[She turns her screen towards the others.] I talked to her. At NOVA. After Dumage... created a distraction at the video shoot... [Which is the only way she will refer to her flashing scene] She wanted to get to Becksworth office.

I saw... horns.

Horns? What kind of aasimar has--- [ she stops herself with a fork full of kung pao chicken halfway to her mouth ]

... Tiefling. Wow. Guess that makes more sense for rocking the evil train.

[Myri tilts her head to one side, looking from Kat to the others.]

The descendant of evil gods, just as aasimars stem from neutral or good deities.

...Oh. [She pulls her screen back to do some reading.] It says she was involved in a murder. Not directly, but... someone she knew.

How seedy. Certainly makes more sense for those with evil blood in their veins to be joining up with team world domination.

[Myri doesn't like the idea of someone being born evil. She was accused of that for most of her life, after all. But instead of making a comment, she just starts to try to research another aspect of the story- namely the murder in question (Research 14?)]

Doesn't explain why they'd join up with Shadow haters, though. I mean, they're Shadowkind too. Unless they somehow missed the memo of what Church of the Creepy & Badly Dressed is all about. [ unfortunately, there isn't much published information: the man's name was antoine niklaus, and the murder appeared to be part of a drug deal, given the attached charges. ]

It also doesn't explain why someone who hates them so much would use their power to their own means.

[Meanwhile, she's going to switch to trying some search combinations for Romania and musical artists to see if they can find a best guess for who they're trying to bring in to do Jade's part of this plan (Research nat 20).]

Isn't that admitting that Shadowkind have something to offer?

They're slavers. The whole idea is that Shadowkind have something to offer. They just think that their entire point is to offer it to them.

[ she manages to narrow down a list of up and coming bands romania that include a female singer, who aren't signed with a major label already. the list is still about 19 artist long, and not all inclusive, but it's a good lead. ]

[Myri just shakes her head at the talk of slavery. Controlling a group of people for any reason is the definition of not okay in her eyes. But once her list is more compiled, she starts trying to narrow it down, but that flops (Research 4). Not wanting to let this lead be a wash, she looks at the others.]

I've found a few possibilities for the girl in Romania- the one they may use to replace Jade. If we can try to get to her first, perhaps we can buy ourselves some time?

[She lets anyone who might want to look at the list do just that.]

I wasn't certain if anyone might be able to help me look into them? It would likely go faster if we split up the list, after all.

There's just one shy of 5 a piece. [She says after counting a second time. She takes a few scraps of paper and creates short lists for each of them- giving Dumage the shorter list because... let's be real about who is most likely to get bored halfway through...]

Here you are. [She hands out the lists and looks her five remaining names.] I suppose we can just look for questionable parentage or anything odd about them?

[rationalizes]

It seemed that Chad was looking for artists that covered a variety of genres as well, if the news reports about the tour were precise. Perhaps we could also try to find artists whose musical stylings differ from those already signed.

[Myri nods to Gar and gets to work on her five artists, trying to research their styles and compare to that of the artists signed with NOVA (research 13).]

[ it's difficult work, considering that the exact type of music each confirmed artist does has not been... confirmed entirely. she manages to eliminate a couple at least. dumage speaks up from where she's half-assed googing ] Even if we did find her, what exactly do we intend to do?

[Myri's glad to at least some progress.]

We keep her from them. Whatever they're planning seems to need more than what they have. If we can keep the girl from them, maybe they won't be able to put their plan into action.

[ wow kat rolled shitty too. MAYBE GAR WILL NAT 20. ] So we kidnap her and lock her up? [ she sounds fond of this plan ]

It... might be better to think of it as protection.

If they're using the same recruitment methods for her as they were for Jade, it's possible she'll be threatened into it. [ oh hey, RESEARCH CHECK 34 ] Here's a stroke of luck. I actually managed to track Decker Greenwall's movements through flight records. Cross referencing that to the list here, his trip to the country seems to indicate that he arrived in the same Romanian city as one particular band was performing in that weekend. A group called "Durere", which does have a female lead singer, named Nadia Reichenov.

She could be the one they were talking about. Are they still in Romania?

[No, she's not looking anything up on her own now, she's just scooting closer to Gar because this is getting more intense.]

[ trufax ] That trip was actually some time ago, but Greenwall did say at the meeting that he had discovered another girl... perhaps they'd already spoken once, or he'd gone to see her. According to Mr. Descant, Raoul Jacobson had gone to see Jade previous to accosting her.

Well maybe... [Myri trails off and slides back to her own seat, trying to see if she can look up any places the group hopes to be in the near future. (Research 15)]
