The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Ohey Fred (and Mark!). David walks up, nodding and tipping his glass in greeting.]

Hell of a first impression, by the way.

Man's got a point. [ he slaps a hand into david's and thumps him on the shoulder, manly style, before pointing to the other guy ] Mark, this is my squire, David Charming. Charming, this is Mark Sandazhard.

[ he holds out a hand ] Fred's got another squire, huh?

[David shakes Mark's hand with a smile.]

Nice to meet you, Mark. And yeah... I guess so.

So I take it this is only the beginning of seeing some pretty crazy stuff, huh?

[It's really addressed to both men, since they're not newbies like him.]

[ they exchange a Significant Look and start laughing ] Yeah. You could definitely say that again. Hopefully you have a strong stomach.

[David just smiles at the laughter. He likes these guys.]

I'd say it won't be an issue, but that's probably tempting fate. [And he won't jinx himself to barf all over his first mission if he can help it.]

Since I turned 18 and could pack up and head across the pond. Been around three years now. Always knew this was where I wanted to end up. [ he looks at david, and adds as an explanation: ] Knighthood ... runs in the family.

Mark was already here, though.

[ mark doesn't say anything for a moment, before realizing he should speak up ] Er, yep! I was uh, a teenager. Seemed like the... thing to do.

Wow. Guess I'm a little late to the party, huh?

Don't sweat it. We all started somewhere.

Hey, who's sweating? This is my party, after all, isn't it?

[He laughs and lifts his glass before taking a drink.]

It's weird. I know I came through the Veil from another world, but after all these months, this is the first thing to feel... right.

But maybe that car just knocked a few screws loose when it was running me over.

You got... hit by a car? [ hey, at least he didn't say 'you have screws... in your head?'. which he almost did. ]

The demon car. [ said oh so casually b/c this is the shit they talk about erry day here. ] Man, you are out of it today.

Cut the guy some slack, Fred. [Because he is impossibly comfortable with his Knight already. No fucks given.] I'm guessing the welcome wagon doesn't try to mow everyone else over.

I must have just been lucky.

He can take it. [ he grinds his fist playfully into mark's shoulder ] And I'd say it's a good sign that your first reaction to something like that was 'hey! sign me up!'

I figure any group that supports car jousting is one I want to be apart of.

Fred here decided he'd be better off on the roof of the car while I was behind the wheel.

Well, I figured it'd have the advantage in ramming, and taking that thing out with a sword on foot seemed like a one way ticket to roadkill-ville.

It all worked out in the end. Even if your uh... friend wasn't too thrilled that I helped out.

[That's bro code for "THAT ANGRY ELF GUY WAS WEIRD AND ANGRY."]

Hasmed's sort of old school so he worries about the way information spreads these days. Tries to keep a tight lid on the whole secret identity part of the Knights, that's all.

I can get that, now that I know better.

But it's not exactly low key stuff. I mean, everyone on the street could see that something was going on.

Well, monsters and mayhem happen everywhere, thanks to the Veil. And it's not completely out of the ordinary for some people to play hero. They just don't need to know it's an organized effort on our part.
