Months ago, Finnick learned from Burt Becksworth about a number of construction projects Chad had contracted on the building. At the time of discovering the occult room, it was assumed the construction was to create the secret areas behind the auditorium, however, Kat's finally managed to hack into NOVA financial records and trace the contracts down.

It seems there was another, much more expensive, project, adding restructuring to the locked off basement level, to which there is no access through the public elevators. Schematics show that there is one accessible elevator shaft that goes to the lobby, which requires a key to activate the lower floor. Thomas considers it a better bet, however, to use the nearby quarry underground entrance through which construction trucks used to reach the site. Thomas will be leading a team through the underground tunnel in hopes of finding a space large enough to host the 'experiments' that Chad and company were afraid of the Knights discovering while nosing around the building.

Meanwhile, Jack wishes to discover if there are any remaining 'relics' in the building, and if so, to confiscate or document them. The heightened security within the building has made access much more problematic, and its taken awhile for him to acquire the security protocols necessary to be able to create a looped camera feed. Now that's everything's in place, he'll be infiltrating the building to override the cams, allowing Buffy, Elena, and Rafael to join him on the fourteenth floor for one last sweep of the occult room.

The situation has also grown more complicated in other ways since eavesdropping on Chad's cabal. In a gutsy move, Burt Becksworth has created an inescapable situation for Rafael and Finnick, forcing them to comply in preparing for an album and tour, lest they destroy their own reputations and become infamous in the business for backing out of their 'contracts' and letting down legion of NOVA fans. Finnick is an ideal situation to try and discover more about Burt's plans, however, and perhaps to find out incidental information concerning Chad's "Back the Fans" tour.

[Oh good, maybe they'll be able to fight something now. That's better than having his old nagging doubts about what if his weird headaches are an experiment. Fighting, at least, he can do. He steps back a bit, tense and ready to hit something.]

[ and just like that, the glass bulges for a second, and then splits open, pieces shattering off and flying at anyone standing within 10 feet of the case (reflex save of 15 or higher to avoid damage, otherwise 3 dmg from glass). thomas gets nicked right in the face by a shard, even as he tries to draw back in time.

meanwhile, the liquid rushes out, and several bodies wash out with it, while others slump to the bottom of the tank. pieces of corpse debris slosh up against the heroes' feet.

and most disturbingly of all... after a moment, the bodies began to writhe on the ground and emit strange horrific moans. one wet hand slaps the floor, and begins to push itself up. ]

[...yeah, Spike's ditching the suit. He can't really fight anything while he's struggling out of the outfit, but at least he'll be free to move again.]

[Des has fucking animal grace, because he got a nat 20 on that reflex save. He ducks and rolls out of the way and starts tearing his way out of the suit to get to his gun.] If I didn't know any better, I'd call this a set-up.

[ thomas shoves off his suit as well, because... he's got a fucking sword okay, it's not doing much good under there. ] Nothing we can't handle.

[ whatever, gar's already got her hood off, so she just unzips the top of hers and yanks her gun out. because THAT SHIT COULD BE TOXIC U DON'T KNOW. omg guys, osha's gonna be all over the knights' ass for dis mission.

anyways here is a handy dandy map of where people at. the red dots are ZOMBEHS. and the three that have poured out of the case are all heading towards thomas because he's right there, man. they stagger to their feet, dripping goo and ... flesh. two of them try to lunge at him and he manages to step back and away even as he kicks off the suit, but he nearly backs right into the third, who slams into him (5 dmg) ]

[Now free of the hazmat suit, Spike comes up behind the closest zombie and swings a fist at the side of its head (atk 28 dmg 14).]

How long d'you need?

I don't know. Thirty seconds? Just take out the zombies!

[Des grabs his gun and gets to his feet.] I always knew I'd live to see the zombie apocalypse. Didn't think it'd go this way, though.

[ meanwhile, thomas swings his sword around and cleaves off the zombie's head that just struck him. but he forgot that these guys don't exactly look like regular zombies. because they ain't.

as it's head goes spinning through the air, suddenly, masses of nasty black tissue issue forth from the neck of the thing, spewing all over and covering everyone thomas, des, and spike. all of whom took off their suits. hmmmm.

there's no reflex save to avoid, so each of them take 3 points of damage, because that stuff burns. i also need to know if either of them fail a fortitude save of 13+. ]

[ he's about to swing again when gar frantically yells: ] Stop! They're likely diseased! Whatever you do, don't use weapons that will puncture them! [ she charges forward, and smacks the butt of her gun against the head of the one spike hit (atk 21, dmg 7). for your knowledge, pistol whip damage = 1d4 \o/

the zombie hobbles aside, roaring from its oozing mouth, and tries to smack its arm across gar's face, but she's too speedy for dat. the other standing zombie out here goes for des, lurching at him with both hands held out, slamming them into his throat (dmg 5). it's hot disgusting breath smells like decay mixed with embalming fluid and it tries to drag him closer (which he can break if he makes an opposed grapple check of 12+ (it's just a regular melee attack roll, and if he makes it, he can still attack this round). ]

[Whatever, Spike's damage reduction and his fortitude save of 31 means it's not a problem. Still, he's pretty good at blunt force, and he doesn't want that crap all over his clothes and his friends, so he's slams his other fist into the zombie's gut (atk 29, dmg 13).]

[ AND DOWN IT GOES, into a disgusting puddle, its eyeball falling mushily to the ground separately. kat's still typing frantically away, and... those other zombies in the case are all getting up, well shit.

OH AND HEY KAT'S PHONE IS RINGING. She ignores it for a hot moment, but finally yanks it up to her shoulder in annoyance: ] Oh, for the love of fuck, NOW ISN'T A GOOD TIME.

[Des makes his fort save and OH SHIT THAT IS A ZOMBIE GETTING IN HIS FACE. He wrenches it off of him (grapple 19) and tries to punch it, which does him fuck all good because his attack roll was a five. This is why he doesn't do melee. Or maybe Kat's phone distracted him.]

Why couldn't they just be your run of the mill bloody zombies?! [ still, thomas lowers his sword, swipes goo off his face, and then opens his palm in the direction of des and the zombie waltzing over there. a bright bright light sears through the air and strikes it, making a sizzling sound, burning through its distended flesh (dmg 18) ]

[ it's ok des, gar will save you. she strikes that zombie with the bad tan on the back of the head and it staggers, but... OH SHIT it's STILL MOVING. and tries to grab her, but she manages to slip out of its gross grasp. the other three zombies begin climbing out of the case... ]

[ into the phone: ] Yeah well, we're sorta fighting melting zombies down here so you might wanna try to hack that service elevator and give us a hand.

[Spike hurries over to the new zombies and smashes his fist clean through the first one's face (atk 31 dmg 18) which probably is more spurty than intended o o p s.] We're doing all right!

[Des FUCKING BODY SLAMS into the zombie trying to go after Gar (atk 22, dmg 3)] Is that Blondie and Fluffy's team? Tell 'em I said hi.

[ well... good job des, because that attack just pushed it over the edge, and the zombie SPLATS to the ground. thomas slams his elbow into another of the new creatures, and then slams the flat of its blade against it and it falls as well ]

[rationalizes]

[ gar tries to turn and smack the one spike just punched in the FACE, but she misses entirely and it tries to go after him. but it's mostly just staggering all over because it got punched in the face and is neither falling all apart now.

the final zombie in the case suddenly charges out with a roar, slamming into thomas and knocking him back against the wall, hard as hell(dmg 19) ]

[Spike charges after the last zombie and kicks it hard in the side (atk 16 dmg 14).]

[ kat looks over at them as she puts her phone back inside her own half-zipped suit. ] Download completed! But I wanna upload a virus to wipe the data they've got.

[Des is so over fighting zombies. And also Spike's handling it, so he goes to make sure Thomas is okay.] You all right, Big Guy? [He observes Spike.] Jesus, ten more of him and we'd have a Bolivian army.
