[ The last mission was something of a mixed bag: while Thomas' team successfully infiltrated the underground levels, discovering the truth about Chad & company's diabolical experiments grafting human DNA into Shadowkind in an attempt to make their human mind control technology work on Shadow, the team searching for the relics ran afoul of Iscariot agent, Alexander Anderson. The deadly regenerator was there to kill Rafael, but Jack held him off long enough for the others to escape. Meanwhile, Finnick and Myri learned some interesting information about the state of affairs at NOVA Records...

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in New Orleans, immediately following the last log and extending over the next week. This will be the Knight's last week in New Orleans before they return to the castle for the holidays / do some other filler things so we can catch up to the rest of the world chronologically. (except for characters who have IC reasons not to).

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. ]

I know I should be grateful you're even using a mug instead of licking at us every time we skin our knees, but mostly? Just grossed out. [ she wrinkles her nose, shaking her head. she tosses a roll of bandages to him. ] And as fascinating as your nightmare of a diet is, it's not what I'm here for.

[bigbad]

[He could point out that it's particularly hard around her because she smells so delicious. He could, but he doesn't.]

Oh? What is it, then?

[slay]

Bandage swap. [ she lifts her shirt a little to show the current ones wrapped around her abdomen to cover the stab wounds from anderson. ] The last thing I want is to scare Myri about priest guy. [ or have her worrying over buffy's injuries and her propensity for them. ] They've been healing okay on their own. [ she lowers her shirt again and nods toward her room. ] So, could I get a hand?

[bigbad]

[Wow, Buffy, you are asking a lot of this platonic friend who has less-than-platonic feelings for you. Too bad he's incapable of turning her down for anything.]

All right. Let me just finish eating. [Especially if he's about to deal with her blood. He'd rather not go in hungry. He drops the spoon and starts slurping up the rest of the blood. Which, luckily, isn't all that much.]

[slay]

Right. You do that, I'll just finish gagging. [ disgust crosses her expression, and she turns her face away. blegh. too bad there's no shutting out the slurping noises. ]

[bigbad]

[Whatever he doesn't get weird about it when she's eating. Probably because he likes her food too.

He finishes his drink and puts the mug down on the table, standing up.]

Right then. Do you have the stuff?

[slay]

Gauze, tape, bandages, burny antiseptic. [ she gives a nod, then turns to lead the way into her room. ]

[bigbad]

[He follows her, trying not to show any particular interest in the venture. She's asking him as a friend. He should just be glad nothing's changed after his confession. And he'd rather not worry Myri either, honestly, so it makes sense. Right. He'll just get this done.]

[slay]

[ the stuff's spread out on her bed in the room, and as she steps in, she turns on the bedside lamp. the light it casts is dim, but enough. he's a vampire, anyway, so she figures he should be fine. she moves to sit on the bed. ]

Can you shut that behind you? [ the asks as he comes in, watching at the door. ]

[bigbad]

[Spike does so and comes closer, picking up the roll of gauze just for something to do. It's dark and surprisingly intimate and suddenly he's not sure he should have agreed do this. Okay, not suddenly. He pretty much knew this would be trouble.]

All right. You'll have to lift your shirt a bit so I can get at it.

[slay]

[ yep this is ringing up all kinds of bad decision. but buffy moves to lift her shirt anyway. she winces a little bit when her arms come up high enough, and she reaches past her shoulder to feel for the second stab wound. ] Probably easier to just - [ she sighs, relenting, and strips it off the rest of the way, leaving her in a flimsy bra and pants. ]

[bigbad]

[...this seems like a trap.]

Buffy, are you sure you want me to do this? Perhaps one of the others...

[He shouldn't stare. It's very, very hard not to stare, but if he lets himself, other things could get very, very hard, and Buffy wouldn't like that.]

[slay]

It's fine. Why wouldn't I want - [ as she speaks, she unravels the old bandages and pulls the gauze away, then she stops short in her question, looking up at him as she realizes. oh. the pause is heavy, and her eyes don't leave him. the old bandages are piled in her hands in front of her, and a part of her can't decide if she wants to raise them in a half-assed attempt at covering herself or not. ]

[bigbad]

[He meets her eyes as the realisation hits her. Looking at her eyes is better than looking elsewhere. Then he swallows a bit and picks up the disinfectant.]

It's all right. Might as well finish now that we've started. Here, this'll sting.

[slay]

Maybe I should have grabbed the advil, too. In case the sting sets off your migraines. [ she turns toward him more fully, to offer him the entry of the stab wounds for disinfecting. one is in her stomach, just up and left of her belly button. the other is near her collarbone. ]

[bigbad]

[He gives her a soft smile.] I'll just have to be gentle. [Unfortunately for her... treat injuries is a skill and I rolled a 6. His hand slips as he goes to treat the wound on her shoulder and he spills some disinfectant into the wound. Too much. It's gonna hurt like a bitch. Enough so that his chip does indeed go off (dmg 2) and he jerks back, thankfully not spilling any more disinfectant (reflex 25).]

[slay]

[ she gives a loud, hissed shout at the pain and jerks back, hands covering her wounds in reflex, but it's not really helpful because the burny acid is already on them and oww. she grimaces, shakes her head, bites through it. son of a. ]

That's what you call gentle?

[bigbad]

Sorry! I don't usually do this. [Well... at least it's pretty damn cleaned now. He hopes.] Here, let me... [He puts down the burny acid stuff and grabs the bandages and at least with this part, he's more careful (treat injuries 19). He presses the pad to her shoulder with the perfect amount of pressure and tapes it down.] How's that feel? Better?

[slay]

Much. [ she moves her hand away to let him press the pad more easily, and though there's a tiny cringe, it's much calmer. she looks up to meet his eyes, watching him carefully. ] You ever wish you were better at this part? You know. Instead of the other stuff?

[bigbad]

Well, right now it might be nice. [He gives her a little smile. He dabs more antibiotic stuff on a cloth this time and uses it to clean her other wound, actually gently this time (treat injury 19 again aww yeah). It probably still stings, but not nearly as much.]

But for the most part? I like doing what I do. Healing people like Myri does or creating magic wifi like Kat might be nice, but it's not me. [He winds the bandage around Buffy's stomach, and I'm keeping the treat injuries roll from before (treat injury 23) and manages to do a pretty damn perfect job.]

Think that about does it.

[slay]

[ she watches him quietly while he works, holding her breath as he leans in closer to wind the bandage around her back, drawing him all too close to her body. she gulps, looking up when that happens. she straightens as he finishes, looking back down and examining the bandages. pretty damn well done. she rests a hand over the ones on her stomach. ]

Thank you. [ not just for the bandaging. she thinks about his words. about how conflicted she's been - it'd be nice, but it's not him. it's not her, either. that doesn't mean she likes it. maybe she'd like for 'her' to be different. a skill that doesn't involve nearly killing people. ]

[bigbad]

Yeah, no problem. [He nods, glancing away again, and sits on the bed next to her.] Sorry about spilling on you.

[slay]

Hazard of the inexperienced. It's okay. [ she gives him a small smile, but scoots over as he sits down. away from him. ]

[bigbad]

[He leans back a bit and glances up thoughtfully.] Assuming I am inexperienced. Maybe I did this all the time before I came here.

[slay]

Still nothing, huh? [ a beat. ] From before, I mean.
