It's that time again. New squires would have heard the word come 'round that there would be open weapons orientation this Monday - which is also open to anyone who just wants to come spar with the newbies as well. As before, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.

Sir Luthir stands off to one side, all impassive elf, armored in his light, beautifully worked metal, and carrying a sword. Red-headed Sir Ironsides hefts an axe over his shoulder and offers a boisterous greeting to those approaching, and Fred helps round people up to the middle of the room.

Some of the squires' mentor Knights will have accompanied them - others will have left them to their own devices. Everyone's welcome to tag into threads or make their own!

Come on, Sir Swan. [He grins at her.] Since you're so good at it.

You've obviously had the training necessary. And you two appear to know one another.

And this is me, wishing for the hundredth time today that we didn't. [ hook you are not going to enjoy this training session, so help her. ]

[So grumpy. He saunters over to her, not put off at all by her attitude.] So let's get started. Sooner you get me to understand, the sooner you won't have to spend time with me.

[Since he's about even on wanting to spend time with Buffy and wanting to carry a gun around.]

[ wandering off now, he's done his work here /dusts off hands ]

[ spend time with buffy, huh. ]

I - [ she opens her mouth to respond as luthir leaves. she looks offended. ] Hey! Hey! [ but he's wandering off and she just looks defeated. she groans, rolling her eyes, and turns back to hook. ]

Three rules. First, you don't talk unless you have a question. Second, you do exactly what I tell you to. Third, you find yourself something in the library to study up on safety regulations on your own after we're done.

[Shush you didn't see that.]

Right. That'll happen.

What was rule number one?

I don't follow rules.

Then, you won't be learning from me. [ she gives a snide smile, and then turns to make her way out of the range. w/e she's cleared she doesn't have to be here anymore. ]

[He catches her wrist with his hook.]

Perhaps if you made rules that weren't there strictly to dissuade me, I'd consider behaving.

They're not made to dissuade you. [ she jerks her wrist back, out from the curve of his hook. ] They're made so I can put up with you long enough without shooting you instead of the target.

That doesn't sound like safe operating. [Look he's already so good at this.]

It's plenty safe, as long as I don't put my finger on the trigger too soon and shoot myself in the foot.

...that something that happens a lot?

To me? No. To you? [ she looks at his hook, eyebrows raised. ] Let's just stick with assuming you're accident-prone until proven otherwise. [ grade a victim blaming right hurr ]

[Wow, Emma, wow.] That's why you're supposed to teach me.

That's why I suggest you learn to follow my rules if you want me to do that.

You'd find me so dull if I did.

I already find you dull, Hook. You're nothing I haven't seen before.

[He scoffs.] We both know that's not true.

Find a new trick.

I'm trying to learn one. Not with much help from you, I might add.

You're not exactly cooperating, either.

[He considers that for a moment.]

I can behave. Not to the extent of your rules, but I'll listen.
