[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of this half of the month.

dragon's hoard lab ♔ (single thread)

[ as anyone who's gone through an equipment orientation knows, the mission equipment room requires walking through the dragon's hoard lab to reach. so anyone looking to pick up supplies for any reason might happen to walk past gar and lis'sa looking very engaged with some strange device at a table in the middle of the lab. a robot arm holds something very small aloft, and gar hits a button on the device...

and the thing held in the robot pincers starts on fire. :| gar gasps and looks over towards where your character stands, gesturing wildly at the fire extinguisher ] Oh! Help!

[uncease]

[A damsel in distress? David is quick to grab the fire extinguisher and aim it at the fire. His regular world job in a factory probably taught him some safety skills? His aim however, needs some work (dex 6) and he does a poor job of avoiding the two ladies from the nozzle's extinguishing wrath.]

[rationalizes]

[ both of the girls get mad reflex saves at least, so they slide out of the rogue spray quickly enough, however he's not doing the world's best job of... putting out the fire. gar looks a bit frantic and sounds quite distraught ] The chip! It'll be destroyed!

[uncease]

[The urgency in her voice must have snapped him into shape, because he focuses and does a much better job of hitting his mark (dex total 20). After a moment, he lowers the extinguisher.]

Is everyone okay?

[lissatrinall]

[ lis'sa does not look too happy about being sprayed with that shit, even if it didn't really get on her ] I think we survived your rescue attempt.

[uncease]

[He's sheepish, once he realizes that he really did a good job of mucking that up. He doesn't really know either of the ladies, so he just swallows that embarrassment and sets the fire extinguisher down.]

I guess my reflexes need some work.

[lissatrinall]

It wasn't your fault. [ she casts a sidelong glance at gar. making it clear whose fault it was. ]

[He looks at both of them, not wanting to touch that.]

What happened?

[rationalizes]

We were, er, trying to measure energy readings from a chip discovered on a mission. Hoping to understand its effects entirely.

[uncease]

And it just... caught on fire?

[rationalizes]

Some of the equipment I designed to do the readings is um, experimental.

[uncease]

...Oh

[That sounds so unsafe, but David is trying really hard not to judge.]

Do you guys want some help cleaning up?

[rationalizes]

That's very kind of you, but, er, perhaps I should, given it was my... mistake...

[uncease]

It's really not a problem. I don't mind. [CHIVALRY]

[lissatrinall]

Fine. [ she gives gar a curt nod, before taking her leave ] I want it to look like this never happened.

[uncease]

[David waits until the other woman is gone before turning to Gar with a smile.] Well, she seems like a barrel of laughs.

[rationalizes]

[ gar blushes a bit, getting to work on her hands and knees ] She's, erm, my boss, you might say.

[uncease]

Oh. [Well that makes it a little awkward to poke fun at her, so he switches gears while finding a spot to start working on the clean up as well.]

Well... when we're done, it'll look good as new.

[rationalizes]

It's very kind of you to help, Sir--?

[uncease]

Charming. [He finishes with a smile.] David Charming. Sorry, I guess the introductions were kind of forgotten, huh? I don't think I caught your name either.

[rationalizes]

I imagine they were, weren't they! Jeanne Gar. [ she manages to free a hand to offer ] A pleasure to meet you, Sir ... Charming.

[uncease]

David, please. I'm still not used to the whole Sir thing. And the pleasure is all mine, Jeanne.

[What even? Who calls Gar by her first name? Charming get out- you are drunk]

[rationalizes]

Since February. It's been... an adjustment.
