Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Buffy's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Hide members - the largest sect in the castle, with the most representatives here, and Jack, Wynn, and Dovan wait up at the front of the room for Buffy to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Buffy Summers."

Well, teach Rafael how to shoot and maybe it won't be.

Me. You think I could teach him. You haven't even seen me fire a gun. Ever. You ever think maybe there's a reason?

[ spoiler there's not one that is about her skill, bc she was actually gr9 when she did shoot one, but she just doesn't like them. ]

Well, the options slimmed to Kat or the librarian and I wouldn't trust Kat to shoot straight in a narrow hall. [He grins at her.] I was joking, Blondie.

I did manage to figure that part out, what with the whole you not having to worry about being shot thing.

I don't have to worry about bleeding out from it. Ever get shot? It hurts.

You're really asking me that question?

Like I said, Rafael can't shoot. Getting his bullets is like a initiation rite at this point.

[slay]

He's never shot me. Maybe he just doesn't like you.

Well, we all knew that, already. [Snicker. And then he shakes his head.] For the record, I'm on his side. And if he hasn't figured that out yet, he's got fluff on the inside of his head too.

[slay]

I know you are. But ... Jade's on your side, too. And that's hard for him, with the situation the way it is.

[Des shoves his hands into his pockets.] I know that too. That girl's gone through a lot, though. The last thing she needs is suitors fighting over her. [He sticks his tongue in his cheek.] Or one suitor and a guy she thinks could be.

[slay]

I know. I've tried getting him to give it a rest, but I don't think ... I don't think it's much good.

He's in love. You can't just shut that off. [Says the least romantic person in the room.]

So, I've been hearing. Wouldn't it be swell if you could, though?

Well, as the old saying goes, "This too shall pass." [He frowns and then adds...] Much like a kidney stone.

And it's just about as fun as one in the meantime.
