The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Perhaps... I didn't arrive in water, though, so it's certainly not a requirement.

Perhaps. It was still a jarring transition.

That's true. At least I didn't lose time this time.

[That stops her in her tracks.]

This time? You mean to say this has happened to you before?

[You mean being kidnapped to multiple universes doesn't happen to everyone? David pauses, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.]

Yeah. When I was sixteen.

[witchwoman]

That must have been terrifying.

[generaldavideus]

Yeah. It was. But we figured it out.

[witchwoman]

[That makes her pause again.]

We? There were others?

[Your story is too intriguing, David. She's going to keep prodding at you.]

[generaldavideus]

I think so?

[he tries to remember, but he can never quite place them.]

I remember there being people but I can't remember who they are or what they looked like.

[witchwoman]

That's more than some can say they remember. [She's hoping to come off positive but knows that it's not exactly the easiest topic to swallow.]

So are you saying I got lucky?

[witchwoman]

What? No... no, no. It's not quite so simple as that. Some of us would rather forget more. Some find ourselves lucky, but others? Well, it's all about perspective.

[generaldavideus]

I guess.

[then he shakes his head]

I've been screwed over by magic before, I'm not thrilled that it's happened again.

[witchwoman]

Oh. [She pulls inwardly a little, because of her few memories, she does have a few vivid ones of people with a negative disposition to magic running her out of town.]

Do you... feel this way about all magic?

[generaldavideus]

[Oh. Crap. The look on his face says he didn't mean to offend her -- he just has had a lot of bad experiences.]

Not ... all of it? I know it has it's uses, but ... I don't really like it. I don't like the disadvantage it gives me.

[witchwoman]

[She just nods, not sure how much she wants to say. Eventually, though, she knows that she doesn't want to deceive him in any way.]

I'm a witchwoman. [Though here that doesn't really seem to mean much to anyone but here.] I have magic. Healing magic.

... Healing is not the magic I'm used to. Turning our meals into zombie deer, mind control -- that's the kind I've been around lately.

[witchwoman]

There are all sorts of magic here. But I've never heard of a... zombie deer? Perhaps the magic here is less destructive.

[generaldavideus]

[Merlin sort of turned their dinner into a weapon once. It was fun.]

That would be a nice change of pace.
