[ It's not until Buffy's a bit more settled in and Jack's returned from some business that he's able to hold true to his promise to set up a meeting for her with the head of the Hellsing family. So one foggy London January morning, he drives her out to the Hellsing manor. The estate is intimidating on its own, though obviously not to the scale of the Knight's castle. It does, however, make up for it in the menacing aura that seems to hang about the entire exterior of the manor.

Jack pulls the car up to the front gate, and announces himself to the guard stationed there. After the soldier confirms it over headset, he waves them through, and the gates clatter open. ]

Still, I had hoped it might be more conducive to helping you find some peace of mind. [ he steers her towards the lobby ] But perhaps it's for the best.

[slay]

I don't know about best, but I didn't expect a full dossier on what demon-slaying superpowers are all about. And, it's not like we came out totally empty handed! If we ever need an in with Hellsing ... [ she shrugs. ] I've got a standing offer.

[dragonsclaw]

[ as walter opens the front door to escort them out, jack smiles at her slightly, and when the doors close behind them, leaving them outside he says: ] I'm proud of you.

[slay]

For what? That's not the first vampire I've threatened.

[chessing]

For not jumping to believe the worst about yourself.

[slay]

[ haahahahahaha oh he thinks. ok. buffy just gives him a smile because the last thing she's going to do is correct him when she's fully trying to pretend she's good to go with all this. ]

I can't think of a whole lot of monsters who use their powers to fight demons, can you?

[dragonsclaw]

Not by choice, no.

[slay]

Exactly. And here I am, all ... choosy.

[chessing]

It speaks volumes to your character, Buffy.

[slay]

Shouldn't the feel-good going-against-nature-for-reasons-of-good speech be saved for Spike?

[dragonsclaw]

Perhaps. Given that I don't believe darkness is your nature.

[slay]

Guess for now we can't really say either way.

[chessing]

[ jack moves to his door of the car and looks across the top at her ] I can.

[slay]

[ she holds his gaze over the car. he seems so certain that it's hard to believe anything else. she trusts jack, and he's so sure. she appreciates it, and after a long moment, she just nods, and then climbs in, allowing the assurance. ]

[chessing]
