The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Alec could take his options here and pretend not to follow the very obvious flirtation but why? He was talking to a gorgeous woman and she was flirting with him, in spite of his earlier fuck up. Why not flirt right back?]

I've been told by many that I have a talented tongue. You have to learn to be very flexible when you learn Arabic.

I like to imagine that I knew lots of languages before my unfortunate little run-in with the veil between worlds.

[ She pauses briefly to empty her glass in one long drink, since she is still of the opinion that her mind is in need of some temporary alterations. ]

I do know that I made a reasonably successful living primarily using my tongue, so I think I can take you.

[It's better when people talk about the veil if he just changes the subject, so he focuses on the rest instead.]

I make a living with my hands. [He holds both up with a grin, flexing his fingers slightly and then dropping them with a shrug.]

But it never hurts to have a bit of diversity in talents, right?

Believe me when I say that my hands are almost as good as my mouth.

[ Someone passes by with a tray and she drops her empty glass off on it. ]

I'm a bard.

We'll have to compare skills some time.

[He means what she probably thinks he means. That was definitely an invitation. And if he knew here a little better it would have been even more direct and included an offer to slip away and start their own 'party'.

Of course, swapping careers is awkward when you're a thief, so he just smiles a little brighter.]

That's fantastic. I bet you have all sorts of stories to tell.

[ Oh, good.

And it's perfectly fine that he doesn't share what he does to keep himself fed, Kyla isn't actually all that interested. All she needs to know about him is that he's handsome and entertaining and possibly up for a kind of fun they probably shouldn't try to have in this particular spot. ]

Excellent. I've spent the last three months or so in company that wasn't very interested in comparing skills at all. That's a bit of a story right there, really.

Oh, that's just harsh and unusual punishment. We really must fix that. It's a tragedy that needs to be righted.

Think I might try to socialize around a bit, get to know the rest of our new castle-mates. But you should definitely come find me before this party ends.

We can find some better drinks and host our own party.

[ And with that she simply wanders off after giving him another grin, leaving him to do his socializing.

But she is so taking him up on that offer later. ]
