The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Klaus is surprised upon seeing the familiar face. There were a great many things he found himself unable to recall, and yet the image of the Petrova doppleganger was one that remained more or less clear within his mind.

He takes the offered glass of champagne, holding onto the near empty one in the opposite hand until someone comes to relieve him of it.]

Given all of the ceremony earlier, I couldn't think of a better way to be welcomed among your ranks.

[Oh look at that, clearly these waiters are one their game because one swings by to grab it only a moment later. Wonder how much Wynn is paying them.

One Petrova doppelganger without a Salvatore in sight. Weird, right?

At least you had others there to suffer with you. I was completely alone. Terrifying.

[Well, luckily Klaus doesn't remember her beyond the fact that she's a doppleganger. He's also unable to recall much of anything outside his own family, but given the Petrova dopplegangers played such an integral role throughout their lives, apparently he's able to recall their line as well.]

I can only imagine. [Except the thought wasn't exactly terrifying to him. He was just trying to make himself seem more approachable than he actually was.] I get the feeling that it isn't typical for so many to join at once.

Not usually, no. Well, for the few that I've been to, anyway.

[She smiles.]

I'm Elena, by the way.

[The name wasn't one that he recognized, at any rate. He'd been expecting her to introduce herself as Katerina. He returns the smile with one of his own.]

How rude of me. I should have introduced myself sooner. You can call me Klaus.

[Oh, how mysterious. Not a this is my name, but this is what you can call me.]

[She takes a sip of her drink.]

So, are you from around here? Or did you come through the veil, too?

Apparently I'm in good company.

[Which means he's also come through the veil, in case Elena didn't catch that.]

That whole memory thing really sucks, doesn't it. Or did you get luckier than most of us?

Yes, it does "suck" quite a bit, in fact.

[Look he's trying to be endearing by using her slang terms along with her even if they sounds completely out of character for him. He is intrigued by you, not-Katerina~]

Though I can't be certain whether the few memories I'm still able to recall equate to more or less than what others like myself are capable of.

[Hint: Tell him all about your own experience, gurl.]

[And she actually laughs at that, because it sounds odd coming out in that accent.]

I remember even less than most, for what I've heard. [She takes the hint at least.] I vaguely remember a few people. Important people.

[And because it's not nearly as loaded as it would be with her memories, she adds:]

I'm also apparently a...doppelganger, whatever that means.

[Klaus was surprised that she'd know this at all. He's suddenly intrigued to learn even more.]

How's that? If you don't mind my asking, that is.

You can add that to the long list of things I don't remember. The word just kind of...stuck with me.

[She shrugs her shoulders.]

I'm human, though, in all the ways that seem to matter. No special powers, as far as I can tell. [She tilts her head, curious.] What about you?

Now there's an odd question. [Because, really, how often did you get asked whether or not you're human?]

As it turns out, I happen to be a vampire. [For the most part. And since I don't have his character sheet worked out yet I'm just rolling a d20 which gives him a bluff check of 13 if she wants to try and get her perceptiveness on to realize he's holding something back.]

It's not so odd around here, really.

[She says amused. All you needed to do was look around.

Still, her eyes rise, interested. And clearly unafraid. And seeing as Klaus most definitely will have a bluff modifier, and Elena rolled a 15, that she might possibly have an inkling of more, but isn't going to question him about it.]

You're in good company, then. One of the first people I met here is a vampire.

How lucky for them. [Oh look, complimenting you already.]

Though you might want to take care of who you trust. Not everyone has the best of intentions--particularly when it comes to vampires. [Himself, for instance.]

I was lucky too. There's a lot of good people here.

[She smiles. Clearly, they're both included in that number.]

Wynn generally has good judgement, from what I understand. So I don't worry about that too much around here. Out there- [She says, pointing towards the door.] -that's another story.

I suppose you're right. Perhaps our being stranded here won't turn out to be such a bad thing after all.

Have to make the best of it. And seeing as I like it here and don't have anything to compare it to...

I'll get my memories back if it ever turns out to be possible, but I'm...happy here. You can be, too.
