The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[And then she starts, realizing she's an idiot, and rambles a bit.]

I meant for me, not you. You were fine.

[She remembers her falling, of course, so this is even more awkward.]

You did fine. You didn't trip or butcher the words.

[ She gets up and moves to where the other girl is standing. Yes, she just ducked under the rack and stepped over the base (dex 15), and did it all without tripping. ]

Parties not really your thing?

No, but I was worried about it the entire time.

[Sydney's eyes follow her as she moves through the dress rack rather gracefully in her opinion. She must have snagged her foot on that carpet before. Plus, that armor was bulkier than she's pretty sure either of them were used to.]

No, not at all.

[ Totally the carpet's fault. If anyone asked, she would blame the carpet, the armor, everything. Though she'd really probably just blush and mutter some excuse before going to hide.

She frowns slightly at Sydney's answer. ]

It won't be so bad. I was.. kinda thinking of not going myself.

[She frowns, pushing aside another section of dresses, examining them with a sigh.]

No, we can't. They're holding it in our honor. It would be rude not to go.

[ Her head waggles, bobbing, as she considers that. ] Yeah, I guess you're right. Have to at least put in a customary appearance.

[ Dawn's attention shifts to the dresses, the ones the girl seems so dissatisfied with. ]

What are you looking for? Maybe I can help.

[She nods, glad that she's reconsidered.]

We don't necessarily have to stay long, hopefully.

[She looks over at her, looking as if she's thinking about this way too deeply.]

These are just a little more...glamorous than I was expecting.

[ Dawn glances at the dresses, then at her. ]

Yeah, I mean, it's kinda a big fancy party. So I guess glamor kinda goes with, you know?

[Dressy, Sydney can do. Glamour? Not so much.]

Maybe this one?

[She pulls out something...pretty boring, to be honest. A maroon color, and not a lot of shape to it. But it could be worse.]

[ Dawn tries not to pull a face, but... yeah, she's pulling a face at it. ] The color isn't bad, but it'll pretty much look like the dress swallowed you.

[ She sifts through the rack for a moment, and pulls out a more form-fitting, brighter red dress. ] How about this?

[Sydney blinks a few times.]

It's...very bright.

[Wow.]

Okay, so no to the color. But am I warm with the style and, like, the length and stuff?

[ Already she's putting the dress back on the rack and sifting through more. ]

[It's..closer to the body that she's used to, and she might not get to eat anything during the party for fear of looking bloated, but she could pull it off. Probably. So she just nods.]

So long as it doesn't have a side slit.

[Gotta keep modesty somewhere.]

[ She nods, shoving aside a few more dresses before pulling out another: no slits, knee length, in a shade of sapphire blue. The neckline is a bit plunging. ]
