The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ she lets out an exaggerated shy and slumps her head back before snapping it up with a grin ] I guess conversating's probably a good idea, now that you're official anyway, huh?

[Though she isn't sure why they couldn't talk anyway.]

Unless you'd rather just enjoy the party and talk later.

[Since parties seem to be more her thing than Sydney's.]

Well, lucky for you, I also enjoy talking! [ she shoots her a grin and loops her arm through sydney's, dragging her towards the tables. halfway there, she stops abruptly, which is a bit dizzying with the grip she has on her. ] Or did you want to sneak out for a tour now?

Yes, lucky me.

[She's just going to try and play along. She certainly doesn't want her to think she's uninterested, because she is. She's just not as good at being so...perky? Also, she's sort of off-kilter now with all this jerking around, so she just sort of stutters and answer.]

Sure. Tour sounds...good to me.

Now's the best time for snooping around. Almost everyone'll be here so no one's gonna complain if we're poking around somewhere. [ out the door she drags her ]

[She follows after her, even if it's not entirely of her own volition.]

Snooping? [Tour did not mean snooping in her head.] Won't we get in trouble?

Why would we? The castle's our home, remember?

[She feels a little foolish at that.]

I guess that makes sense.

[Though she's pretty sure that snooping is still snooping, even at home.]

It's just more exciting when it's a little dangerous. [ she heads across the hall, pulling out her access card and swiping it so that the mural moves aside, revealing the hall that leads towards the round table room ]

[If they're allowed, she's not quite sure what would make it dangerous, but it doesn't exactly help her anxiety at all.

Still, this woman is her superior.]

[Said as the hallway opens, and Sydney peers down the hallway, only going to continue on when she does.]

You might not have gotten much a chance to look at all this stuff when you talked to Wynn. [ the long corridor is lit with torches in sconces, illuminating the massive array of art on the walls. ] It's Wynn's private collection. Or whatever. Like a history of the Knights, in pictures.

I think I was too nervous.

[But she's not now, especially away from the room full of non-humans people.

She walks slowly down the hall, her eyes taking in the sight of each piece.]

[ There's something solemn about the long stone corridor, made only more so by the fact that almost every inch of the walls on either side is covered in paintings, tapestries, rugs, artifacts, carvings, etc. that depict various images from the Knights' history, of those in armor battling against all manner of twisted and dangerous creatures. There's another constantly reoccurring image as well - of a gigantic silver dragon battling against armies of dark elves, or just one dark elf in particular, who is often depicted with a certain circular symbol somewhere on his wicked looking armor. ] It's kinda cool, right?

It's amazing.

[Every step or two she pauses to get a better look.]

Are these stories in writing, too?

[She pauses to look at the particular dark elf that shows up often, at the symbol on his chest.]

Who's this? What the symbol mean?

[moonheart]

[ she screws up her face in thought ] Pretty sure there's a book about the Knight's history somewhere in the library. [ she stops to look at the symbol, tilting her head ] I guess you'd have to ask Wynn. Probably someone the Knights fought a long time ago?

Maybe I will, if I ever get the guts to talk to him again.

[The first time was enough, thanks. She bets that she can find that book, though.]

He's not that scary.

Maybe not to you, he isn't.

[He's just intimidating. Overly so.]

He wouldn't hurt any of us. Maybe make a lot of grumpy disappointed faces, but I get the feeling he actually cares about all of us. And there's, like, hundreds of Knights, so he must have a pretty big heart!

Not every boss cares about their employees. But I'm sure you know him better than I do.

I haven't really gotten to talk to him a whole lot, to be honest. We worked out of Ireland, so I only saw him for ceremonies or parties.

He stays here for the most part, then?

I think he travels too, fighting evil and stuff. Big evil, like top priority stuff.

Is it smart for the organization's leader to be out in the field?

What kind of leader would be if he just sat inside and hid all day?
