The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Definitely. I really never wanted to be a police officer in the first place... I sort of fell into it, or was led into it, I suppose.

What about the nights? Did you fall into this, too, or did you seek them out?

I suppose that was the will of Lurue too. My husband and I moved to his family home in Ireland, and I started involving myself in certain diplomatic negotiations between some of the larger populations of Shadowkind settled there - the Knights were doing the same, and when they learned what Jared and I had done years ago, when we lived in New York City, Wynn invited both of us to join.

Jared loves his work, though. He was named Chief of Police back in Ireland, and he wasn't going to give that up. I operated out of the Irish home office of the Knights until recently. We just relocated to London - he was offered the position of Commissioner and two of our children are off at college. My daughter Faith actually joined the Knights herself, and our youngest ... well, she needed the change of scenery. [ her expression darkens from its cheery countenance just for a second when she says that, but then she brightens again ] So here we are!

That's quite a story. Sounds like you have an interesting family.

[He smiles a little stiffly and glances around the room.]

It's good you got to keep your family together, like that. Must be interesting having your daughter join in.

I'm almost surprised that she's stuck with it long enough to get assigned to a section. Faith's never been the type to sit still for long.

Well, sometimes the right reasons come along. Maybe she found something worth sticking to.

[Which is more than he usually says about people he doesn't know, but he's in positive spirits today and making a not to try and meet Faith.

She already sounds like someone he would get along with.]

It's nice to see either way. Her father's fond of saying he wanted to see her take more responsibility... But he worries too much. She has a long, long life ahead of her. She might enjoy this now, but if she ever wants to leave and pursue something else, the Knights are flexible enough to allow her to do that and still be a part of them.
