The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ she looks back over her shoulder with a blithe smile ] That little old thing? I've been able to do that as long as I can remember. It's not really as flashy or useful as a real spell, but it has its uses every once in a blue moon.

[Apart from him, obviously. Because seriously, the ratio was sort of the other way around before he landed himself smack dab in the middle of Oz.]

I think we're still in the minority, if the numbers in the Dragon's Light and Dragon's Fire mean anything. Magic takes either faith or talent - and not everyone chooses that road who has the knack for either. [ a reassuring smile ] You didn't have much magic where you came from?

We had magic, but it wasn't exactly common.

In fact, most people were under the impression that magic--real magic, didn't actually exist.

I suppose it's quite a lot to take in. But for all the danger magic can pose, it also brings a lot of color to this world.

[Looks like he'd be finding out one way or another, and whether he liked it or not since he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Until then, he'd have to take her word for it.]

I'm Alaric, by the way. I'd offer to buy you a drink, but they aren't exactly charging.

Oh! Where are my manners? [ she delicately extends a hand ] Anastacia. I only just transferred here from the Irish office. [ despite which, her accent sounds more american, with maybe a hint of buried french ] As for the drink, I think that sounds wonderful, free or not.

[And here's hoping she likes champagne. It's not Ric's drink of choice, but after the ass he made of himself earlier he isn't exactly looking to jump back aboard the bourbon train.]

[ she takes it without complaint, and thanks him. ] So who were you, Alaric, before all this?

[It takes him a second to consider that question. He'd never really thought about it in such concrete terms. There was no going back to his life before--not that he could recall most of it.]

I'm not even sure I could tell you at this point.

[Which actually had just as much to do with the fact that what he can remember of his life is so fragmented based on the circumstances therein as it did the fact that passing through the Veil had taken most of his earlier memories entirely.]

I don't actually remember much outside of a window that spans maybe a few years at most. Anything before that is just ... glimpses.

[One of the few memories he has that remains unclouded is Elena--which is probably the sole reason he decided to join up with the knights. Not that he's spoken to anyone about as much outside of maybe Wynn (which reminds me I never did a join-up post for him or Klaus whoops).

He glances up and spots said brunette not too far off from where they're sitting, but then turns his attention back toward Anastacia just as quickly.]

My priorities haven't changed.

That's more than I had, when I first came to this world. I only had my name, and most people couldn't pronounce it. [ one of those airy smiles of hers again, that seem full of reassurance ] Are these 'priorities' what led you here?

My goddess led me here. [ ut oh... religious whackjob alert... ] I was doing work much like what the Knights do, up in Ireland, when I met some of the members of the branch there.
