after-party ♔ may

♬ Jeux d'eau - Ravel
WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (brazil & nevada groups will be returned! if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || May 1st, 2013, 6:00PM
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

Fortunately, I usually find some useful bit of information that helps fortify my magical capabilities - so even if all that's left is some scribblings on a wall and a book or two, it can be a wealth of treasure to me.
What about you, Alaric? Any magical aptitude about you?

[Not counting the ring--but even then, that was something that had been spelled long before it came into his posession.]
No, my interest in ancient knowledge is based solely on the fact that I'm a huge history nerd at heart.
[Cheers.]

My magic is almost entirely based on knowledge of history - old secrets and symbols and the like.
My family had a vault in their ancient land that was overflowing with historic texts and old tomes, spent the better part of my life locked up in there researching, learning... [He takes a drink]
I daresay that's the one thing I'm going to miss from that place.

[Which makes it infinitely easier to catch up on.]
What about you? It sounds like magic was a pretty common thing where you came from.
no subject
And just as varied. There are many unique and strange magics, lost magic, ancient 'high magic.'
It's going to take a bit to get used to how mundane most things are in this place, honestly.

Sounds like the exact opposite of what I'm experiencing. The only real differences from this world and mine are the non-human races, some of the deities, and the magic.
[Wow, Ric. Might want to knock on some wood there.]
As far as I can tell, anyway.

I'm no... philosopher or historian... but it bothers me to feel so... alien in this place.
I fear I'll spend much of my free time in the coming months just studying...
no subject
[Not that it ... bothered him quite as much. Alaric kind of had a boner for that sort of thing, and the idea of learning about all of the differences this world had to offer did have its appeal.
At the same time he'd much rather be back where the world was only semi-crazy and he could at least pretend to manage his sad life. Plus, you know, Elena actually remembered him back home.]
You've been here, what, a few months now?
no subject
I wish... Hopefully I'll be more settled after a few months; but no, I've only just been here since last month.
no subject
You had me fooled, at least. [Which isn't saying much lbr. You're drunk, Ric, go home.]
no subject
Well, way I figure it, not much sense in worrying about things beyond my control.
At least I've got access to the library and computers for study, and more importantly all the liquor I can drink. I'll work this place out at my own pace, it's been enjoyable enough so far.
no subject
Just the same, I think we're both going to end up regretting this in the morning. [All the liquor you can drink didn't necessarily mean that they should try to drink it all in one sitting.]
no subject
True enough, friend. I think I may call it an evening... I'm sure I'll see you around the castle.
[He sort of half-bows then shambles and stumbles his way out of the grand hall... He has a peculiar way of keeping his speech articulate while his body barely functions]
