training ♔ friday morning

WHO || Fredrick Jr., Luthir, Dovan, entirely open
WHAT || Weapons training
WHERE || Knights HQ, Training Room / Armory / Firing Range / Gym, Dragon's Hide wing, 2nd floor
WHEN || Friday, March 17th from 10am onwards
HOW || Actionspam
It's that time again. New squires would have heard the word come 'round that there would be open weapons orientation this Friday - which is also open to anyone who just wants to come spar with the newbies as well. As before, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.
Sir Luthir stands off to one side, all impassive elf, armored in his light, beautifully worked metal, and carrying a sword. Red-headed Sir Ironsides hefts an axe over his shoulder and offers a boisterous greeting to those approaching, and Fred helps round people up to the middle of the room.
Some of the squires' mentor Knights will have accompanied them - others will have left them to their own devices. Everyone's welcome to tag into threads or make their own!

Not at all. Though I'll warn you I'm a little new at this.

[He attempts to spin the staff in his hand in a showy manner, only to lose his grip and have it clatter to the floor (dex 7). Real smooth, right?]
I'm much more accustomed to a blade, myself.

If I'm going to use anything, I'll use a gun. But part of being a good knight is having a wider skill set, right?

[He has absolutely no idea how to use it, which probably shows given his expression as they discuss automated weapons.
Who would even give him one..., but at least he knows what it is that she's referring to.He reaches down for his fallen weapon, and opts against any more showy moves that might go wrong.]
Shall we get started?

Ready.

Ladies first. [Partly because he likes to think himself a gentleman but mostly because I have absolutely no idea how combat works okok.]

Wait, I lied it's (attack: 17) because quarterstaffs are considered dual weilded weapons and I forgot to apply the off-hand penalty for this attack, which is -10. (Regular attacks have a -6 penalty when dual weilding ftr).
I think Aedan actually has less penalties than that because he has the dual weapon fighting talent/feat, but I am going to say he's not going all out on her so I will just apply the regular dual weapon penalties for this.
Sorry for the confusion I'm still trying to figure this out.]

The staff collides, and she takes the stumble back, wincing a bit at the hit. Still she grits his teeth and pushes forward again, going for a second hit (attack: 4) but she already knows that she's going to have to work on this more.
Or maybe she should have picked a partner that was more her speed.
Oh well, live and learn.]
