[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of this month.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. You can also specify 'single thread', meaning you want only one response for all participants, rather than multi-thread, where a number of different scenes/threads can be done as replies to the top prompt. ]

[ When she isn't on desk duty, Dawn sometimes finds herself watching the other squires on it. Poor girl, someone get her a hobby, STAT. But it is a bit entertaining. She manned the phones for a library before arriving here, and she's pretty sure she'd be on the shit list if she did it the way they supposed to here.

She's trying to stay quiet, but this one call, wow. It sounds like Phineas has got some really determined true believer on the line. Pressing a hand over her mouth, she struggles with stifling her laughter, especially since it echoes in here. As soon as he hangs up, she approaches the desk, still grinning.
] Holy crap, I think that's the worst one I've heard yet.

Oh, that one? No, no - Reggie's a regular. [For the last time - Please - Call me Reginald Amberforth the 3rd, Esquire, echoes a voice in his head.] I swear he's called at least twice a day since I've been up here. I can usually keep him going in circles for about an hour if I try. It's been... wait... [Phineas clears his throat] "'s been a bloody right way 'o pickin' up th' local dialect" [He grins, satisfied with his terrible attempt at the accent] It needs a spot of work, but there aren't many differences between this 'English' and my Common tongue.

[He off-handedly flips a few pages in his book, to hide the page with this strange symbol on it, that he had been making notes on.]
So, how have things been going? Haven't much seen you since your squiring party - Wynn got you pegged for a mission yet?

[ She snorts at his impression of the man's accent and smiles. There really has been a wide variety of accents and languages and everything spoken by the people who call. ] You'd think he would eventually give up. We must not be discouraging him enough.

[ With a spot check of 19+3, she catches the flutter of pages and the symbol on the page. It's not that she's being nosy, but... well. She's always nosy. ] Things have been... good. I mean, I can't really complain. No missions yet, though. I probably need to, like, not fail at holding a gun or something. [ She shrugs before reaching over the counter. ] What was that in the book?

["Shit... how much did she see," He wonders]

Oh, this book? It's just an old collection of folk-tales from the Celtic region. Nothing in particular, just reading old legends to pass the time... [Bluff of 19+8 - Continuing the saga of my dice only liking Phineas when he's lying. There were some very clearly recent handwritten notes on that page that I'm sure you saw with that spot check, though, so feel free to call him on his bullshit.]

[ Sense motive 7+5, so she's pretty much buying into what Phineas is selling. Though she does remember those notes, and she's going to tuck those into her mind for later. ] Oh, cool. I've been kinda rotting my brain with the magazines people have left laying around. Someone seems really fond of drawing on the pictures, though.

You don't say? hah. I've yet to look at any of those, sticking to the, uh... musty old tomes...

It's beginning to get a bit dull around here, honestly. Can't wait to get off on a mission, and see what exactly this place is about.

Right? Not that this place isn't very awesome to hang around, but it would be nice to see somewhere else. Experience things first hand.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I never had access to such a... comprehensive library back home. All the legends, and ruins this world has are very exciting... I hope I can visit them someday, to study them.

The mythology and the legends and... [ Wistful sigh. It may not be home but it's so damn close. ] And we come full circle to the 'do we ever get to get out of here' question.

From a technical standpoint.. I'd have to theorize it's possible. Though, I must admit, sometimes when I wake up to the piles of books I've got borrowed in my room, I have a little panic attack thinking that I've woken up back home in the family archivum...

[The look on his face voices his displeasure with that whole general notion.]

Though, if you're serious, I'll keep an eye out for any information that less scrutinous eyes may have... overlooked, while I study.
