I think he sees all the Knights as tools, used in their varying capacities to carry out his missions. Do I think he considers me a tool the same way they did in my world? Doubtful.

Having a choice.

[Lila had a choice to follow in her father's footsteps, of course. But it was either that or lose the affection and pride of the only person in her life who was supposed to love her regardless. That wasn't a choice.]

Or the illusion of one.

I suppose that could be admirable.

An aura of admirability? [She doesn't seem convinced, or all that enamoured with being called dear like she is a little girl.]

Of unpredictability. Which includes acting admirable - every once in awhile.

I have admirable qualities -- I'm studious, conscientious, I save innocent woodland creatures and innocent bystanders from toppling London landmarks. I just don't talk about my admirable qualities.

Then you'd best make certain someone's there to see you do them. Otherwise, what's the point?

The point is that in two months or however long when it comes to light people will marvel at my skills and my modesty and the fact that I am just so god damn trustworthy. [She smiles sweetly, a little shrug lifting her shoulders. Never let it be said Lila can't turn a situation around to benefit herself.]

I like to plan ahead for a rainy day.

[ the tiny room is actually entirely devoted to a section of magical texts that are usually reserved for the mage's wing library but reproduced here as well. .__. spot check-o. ]

[Ooh intrigue. Spot 14 as Lila pokes around in places she probably shouldn't.]

[ there are a couple of texts that look shoddily stuffed back in, but it's hard to say exactly which books. the section deals with incantation magic - stuff anyone can do, regardless of magical aptitude, and in particular there are books on potions and charms here. ]

[bittersweeter]

[She plucks one of the books off the shelf and flips through it before putting it back, whatever, potions. But the next one is about charms and oh, that is interesting. Which is why she skims the pages as she flips through it. Interesting. Maybe she'll give up on Moby Dick for the day...
