The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Taking his arm, Violet is suddenly thankful she wore flats. Although, if she spontaneously hyperventilates and passes out she is pretty sure he'll catch her. But just in case:] Don't let me fall, okay?

[ he leads her to a spot off-center on the floor, and slides one hand gently to her waist, the other seeking her left. his eyes trace her face with a certain level of seriousness despite his little smile as he says solemnly: ] I'd catch you.

[Her voice is quiet as her hand finds his and her other hand rests on his shoulder. She doesn't often dance, not like this, though sometimes she does get swept off her feet into a dance. This is different.]

You're making a habit of it.

[ dancing seems effortless to him, although there's nothing fancy in his movements - merely a natural fluidity applied to a very basic sort of step (perform: dance 15). it's easy enough to follow if she can keep up with the way he glides. ]

Does it bother you?

[She follows along just fine, secretly graceful under all that clumsiness. And maybe all the ballet lessons she has forgotten help. (Perform: dance 19). They really should have gone to Carnivale.]

I think if I minded I wouldn't exactly be dancing with you. [Her head cants to the side, very obviously studying him.] Does it bother you?

[ awww damn son, they look so good ] Why would it?

Well, if you haven't noticed, I'm kind of a klutz. Half the scars I have are actually my fault. Rescuing me could turn into a full time job. And it would probably get boring.

[luthir]

You hardly dance like a klutz.

[graveflowers]

That's cheating, I'm dancing with you. [Read: he is the graceful one. She just looks good by default.]

Flawlessly. There's more to that than merely following a lead.

Regardless, you answered my question with a question, not an answer.

Well, I'm glad. And thank you, for complimenting my dancing. Even though you're doing all the work.

[ he looks amused by something ] You make it very difficult to compliment you, at the rate you deflect them.

It's a work in progress. And... if deflect, I don't blush.

I think I'd enjoy seeing that, some day. I'll have to find something you can't deflect so readily.

That's not fair. [She frowns, or tries to, and pressed up on her tiptoes so he can better see this not at all angry expression.]

[luthir]

[ his eyes search her face, mirroring amusement ] I didn't realize it had to be.

[graveflowers]

Oh I think it should be. You've seen me trip and fall and cry and be concussed and now you're going to try to make me blush, which is super rude I'll have you know, so I think that I should get something from you.

[luthir]

[ his fingers reflexively tighten a tiny bit around hers as he arches a brow ] Oh?

And what would you have?

[She unceremoniously drops off her tiptoes when his fingers tighten and she looks down, exhaling sharply, before settling to look at her hand on his shoulder instead of his expression.]

I haven't decided yet. But it'll be good, trust me.

[luthir]

[ it's easy to feel his gaze studying her face, even when she's not looking at him. finally he says: ] I do.

[graveflowers]

[That makes her look up again, slight surprise apparent in her wide eyes.]

Really?

[luthir]

[ he nods ] Really.

[graveflowers]

Oh. [Her surprise turns to a smile she clamps down, biting her lip and ducking her head as warmth floods her cheeks. How terribly unfair that she doesn't think he was even trying to make her blush and succeeded so easily. Her hand leaves his shoulder to awkwardly tuck her hair behind her ear, fingers digging into her on shoulder.

No, not fair at all.]
