[ Today's the fourth of July, and the city is bustling with happy, smiling citizens on their way to watch fireworks tonight with their loved ones. And then there's the Corvette of people sailing through traffic with almost desperate abandon, as Des steers his way through the city with a basically heartwrenching nat 20 drive check towards the hospital. Rafael lets Violet sit on his lap in the passenger bucket seat, but he doesn't say a word as he stares forward grimly, lost inside his thoughts entirely the whole way there.

They make startling time. There's another car of Knights on the way, but lagging quite a bit behind by the time Des pulls into a spot right up front. ]

[She takes a long sip too, looking into the glass as she swallows.]

Oh wow, that is good.

[One more sip before she sets it down and keeps working, remaining silent for a moment before breaking it again.]

So...those things you mentioned before. They're memories? From before you came through the veil?

[She probably shouldn't pry, but she's looking for something to talk about that...isn't their current mission. And she's always curious about people's home, since she can't remember hers hardly at all.]

Yeah... they told me I'd lost some memories. I hope they aren't as shitty as the ones I've still got.

Seems mostly intact, though. [He taps himself on the head] Probably because I've had a brush with psychogenic focal retrograde amnesia before... oh! and the KGB put some damned mind control chip in my brain.

...So, I guess I've got some experience with this type of thing.

[That definitely calls for more wine. She blinks a few times with raised eyebrows, the rim of the wine glass hovering between slightly parted lips before she finally just takes another sip.]

It must be kind of nice to know though, right?

[Because Elena came through knowing her name and a few other tiny details, and that was it. She's gotten better at not letting it bother her but...it still comes up from time to time.]

And...really? A mind control chip? [A beat before she asks the really important question, obv.] Is it...still in there?

[ buffy comes bursting in without a second thought or a moment's pause, which makes her look ... kind of like an idiot for jumping immediately to being captain cockblock and shouting as if archer is ruining elena's virtue as they speak. ]

[Myri trails just behind Buffy, less screamy but just as concerned. She looks to Elena, concern (and still a little confusion) in her eyes.]

[Archer's a little dulled from all the drinking - but he is still a trained agent. He drops his wine glass, and (with a 22 Tumble) dives to the side and rolls, and overturns a coffee table.]

JESUS FUCK - ELENA! GET DOWN! IT'S THE... [He looks over the coffee table, with a gun brandished in his hand.] ...Oh. It's... just you two. [He puts the gun away.]

[Okay, chaos everywhere, what the hell just happened.

At least she manages to pick up the bomb and her glass before Archer manages to flip the table over. No explosions in the hotel suite, please.

Her eyes are wide and blinking.]

I...sorry, did I wake you guys up earlier?

[With the yelling. She would have expected this earlier, tbh.]

[ kat scoots in behind them and surveys the scene... and the bomb. ] Actually, we were just expecting one hundred percent more adult content behind door number one.
