One of the worst parts of being a vampire, Spike had found, was how bloody boring days could get. Sure, he was generally asleep for most of the morning, but even when he stayed up past dawn, he usually woke up before sunset. He couldn't venture outside without getting singed, so he had to find things to do inside.

Today, he'd found a room with a large, flat screen TV and some sort of video game player. It had taken a bit of running and dodging to make it to the window without burning up, but he'd made it. He drew the blinds closed and switched on the electric lights, then went to look at the available games.

After a bit of browsing, he selected Mario Kart and popped it into the machine. He wasn't entirely sure how to play, but he imagined he could figure it out quickly enough. It doesn't take him long to figure out the controls. (computer use check: 18) and pretty soon he's absorbed in the game. Oh yeah, the hours until sunset could pass quickly like this.

What, what was this. People's faces weren't supposed to look disappointed when they saw her. They should be happy that she'd deign to grace them with her presence. God, Spike, get with the program.

Oh, well, she figured. He'd learn.

"Expecting someone?"

[bigbad]

"No, not really, just--" Spike shook his head. He'd hoped. But he'd known that Buffy wasn't coming back. She and her bloody horses in the bloody daylight. But this woman, whoever she was, had nothing to do with Buffy. Spike should just stop dwelling about it. No reason to be overly hostile before he'd even talked to her.

"Nothing. Never mind. I don't think we've met."

"I think I'd remember if we had," she returned playfully glancing over him. But right, she wasn't here to do window shopping for herself, just dirt digging for Francesca. Of course, buttering him up couldn't hurt.

"Dumage Moulet." Rather than offer a hand, which was so completely unladylike, she just rested against the back of the couch casually.

Spike smiled at her and did offer his. There was a reason people didn't generally accuse Spike of being ladylike. This was it.

"Spike. It's a pleasure, Dumage. I take it you're a knight too?"

That's fine, she'll just give her hand to him delicately, as if to let him kiss it rather than to return a shake.

"I know. I hardly look like a Sir, but Wynn's apparently genderblind."

[bigbad]

Well, Spike can sometimes take a hint, so he brought her hand to his mouth and brushed his lips against her knuckles.

"Clearly so. Sir or not, I doubt anyone'd mistake you for a man."

[postergirl]

"Generally not a problem, I assure you." Her smile widens at the gesture, and then she reclines back against the couch again. "So what is that brings you to our doors?"

[bigbad]

He shrugs. "I didn't have anything better to do, I suppose." It's not the only reason, but he likes seeming nonchalant and uncaring. He doesn't want to get into it.

"And the thought of risking life and limb for strangers is just part of the job, then?" she asked, unable to stop herself from needling to see how much of a bleeding heart hero he was under there.

[bigbad]

He wasn't sure how to explain exactly why he didn't have a problem with it. But he didn't. He wasn't afraid of dying or getting hurt. And he knew doing good was important, even if he wasn't sure he understood why. Maybe he'd been a hero back before he came here.

So he just shrugged.

"Pays the bills."

[postergirl]

"Precisely what I always say," she remarked, her eyes glinting with a sudden sense of comradeship. "And certainly difficult to argue with."

[bigbad]

"Isn't it?" He smirked. Whether she meant it or was saying it for the same reasons he was, he liked her. "And they gave us those credit cards too. Bloody useful." Not that he'd had a chance to really use them yet.

[postergirl]

"Would you like a word of advice?" She leaned a bit closer, glancing over her shoulder. "They don't really check them all that closely. If you feel like buying yourself something nice once in awhile, or charging for room service at an unnecessarily fancy hotel? Well. No one's like to be the wiser."

[bigbad]

"Oh, is that so?" Spike grinned, raising his eyebrows. "I've always found good room service bloody vital to my missions." Not that he'd been on any yet.

[postergirl]

"Precisely." A pleased smile curves up her face. "A happy agent is a successful one, after all. And it isn't as if the company is in desperate financial straits." She gestures around at the extravagantly posh room they're hanging out in.

[bigbad]

Spike looks around as well. "Yeah, I noticed that." He picks up the wii remote, turning it over in his hands. "This game thing must have cost a bloody fortune." He doesn't know if he's ever seen anything like it, of course, but it can sense how you move it. He didn't realise video games did that.

[postergirl]

Wow, Spike, Dumage is going to make a mental note of 'easily impressed' and file that one for later. "Wait til you see the hologram technology in our downtown office."

[bigbad]

Give him a break, he's from ten years in the past. And a different universe. Which he doesn't remember. "You've got bloody holograms?"

[postergirl]

"All the top notch toys for all the good little girls and boys in the Knighthood." She smirks. "And even some for those who aren't so good."

[bigbad]

"Lucky us." He raises an eyebrow at her. "And where do you fit in?" He grins. "Can't say you strike me as overly good." It's clear from his tone and the way that he's looking at her, he means it in the best way. He feels overly good would be overly boring, really.

[postergirl]

"Oh I'm quite good at plenty of things," she remarks, not shying away from the... obvious innuendo. "Depends on what we're talking about."

[bigbad]

"Oh, I don't doubt it." He leans forward a bit, raising his eyebrows, very much interested in where this is going. "Care to give some examples?"

[postergirl]

"Now, now, a lady doesn't tell. Though maybe we could learn a little something about each other's... examples. Perhaps if you show me yours..." She lets that trail off, smirking as her eyes skid across his face. "I take it video games aren't all you do."

[bigbad]

He scoffs and tosses the controller aside. "Hardly. I only picked this one up out of boredom." He shrugs, glancing up at her again. "I like violence." That and poetry, but he thinks the violent one is more impressive.

[postergirl]

"Well, isn't that a manly response," she says, sounding s-so impressed. "What type of violence are we talking about?"
