This isn't exactly a squiring after party. Lila's never been to a knighting (and the odds are not in her favor) but she doubts this party is much like it either. The invitation comes in the form of a mass text message sent the day before -- she doesn't care who gets it, its not as if Wynn is going to come to her party. A date, a time, a location, and the rules. She doesn't give a reason.
The rules are simple: dress up classy, don't bring a gift, and wear a mask. It's a masquerade, after all, a mask is a prerequisite. Lila is even so kind as to provide them, a porcelain bowl perched on a chair by the door holds an array; running the gamut from Phantom of the Opera white to classic Venetian blue and gold to Dia de los Muertos red and black. Anyone without a mask is subject to Lila's wrath.
The room is entirely lit by tea lights floating in small glass bowls, leaving long shadows across the walls, and strings of red fairy lights draped across doorways and windows. Music is playing somewhere, loud and dark, forcing you to press up against the person you're talking to. A table shoved against the wall is covered with bottles of fancy champagne, wine, expensive vodka and, the odd man out, pink lemonade. She and Faye might have gone a tad overboard with the alcohol. Blue plastic cups sit in a tottering pile off to the side, a jumble of colorful paper umbrellas dotting the free space on the desk. Another table holds a towering monstrosity of nibbles -- chocolates and tiny cream puffs, miniature Madeline cookies and delicate eclairs. Nothing to fill up on if you're worried about drinking on an empty stomach. Not her problem, she is obviously catering to the younger crowd here. Namely herself.
Lila is around, face half hidden by a simple lacy black mask. Her one blue eye and one green eye would be a dead giveaway if her scar didn't already make it perfectly clear who is behind the mask. She's not playing hostess, she had enough of that back home being Daddy's little darling. This is the first birthday party she has had in almost four years, but even determined to make the most of her experience, she remains at the fringes, drink in hand. The combination of pink lemonade and vodka makes her nostalgic.
Don't worry though, she has her gloves on.
For now.

The things that we do or are forced to do are not always a good indicator of the kind of person we are.
[He's done a jailbreak, okay. As well as other questionable things, even if he doesn't remember most of them. He's a killer by nature.]
I was more concerned over the fact that you were in a kind of situation where that was required.

[He sees her as a kid, albeit a strong and stubborn one. And he's used to Rose. She won't push him away that easily.]
You can be a tough person and still care, Lila.
no subject
So yeah, Dimitri, I know. You can be tough and still care. Doesn't make you good. [She holds up a hand so she can finish in case he tries to interrupt.] I'm not saying that I'm evil or a monster, but I'm not good. And I might never be.
no subject
That will be entirely up to you.
[But she was here, and they were here to do good things, or so he believed. Time would tell which way she would fall.]

[But he's smiling quietly, all the same.]
no subject
Okay, stop gloating, loser.

[And he lets the topic go.]

Come on, I'm the birthday girl and I want shots, Russia.
no subject
And what will we be drinking?
no subject
Vodka, Dimitri. It's even Russian so your delicate taste buds won't revolt at something gross like... Smirnoff. [She would never do that to him. And she crouches down to grab the bottle of Russian Standard Imperia from underneath the table where she hid it because it is hers, thank you very much. She doesn't like Stoli.]
no subject
And it is her birthday.]
I'm honored you would share it with me.
[That's the good stuff, after all.]

Я желаю тебе крепкого здоровья!
Я желаю тебе долгих и счастливых лет жизни!
И самое главное, Я желаю тебе счастья - безмерного счастья! каждый день!
[How much Russian have you learned, Lila?]

I am gonna go with... thanks?
no subject
You're welcome. [He chuckles.] Happy Birthday.
no subject
Ooh, I was right. Thank you. Want some more?
no subject
[Drinking was a social thing, after all.]

За удачу!
[And down the hatch. (Fort save...nat 20. Seems legit.)]

My dad's a luck worker. I'm pretty sure I inherited good luck.
no subject
I didn't realize that luck was something genetic.
