[ not all the 'training' in the combat room consists of mentors beating on their helpless squires. sometimes it consists of squires beating on helpless knights. see, for example, the colorful example of walking in the room to see sir eric carpenter lecturing sydney bristow on safety procedures for unarmed combat in the training room... only to have her abruptly flip and body slam him down onto the mat, keeping him down in a hold where his face is smashed hilariously to the floor. she says flatly, making it very clear that this is a statement on being babied: ] Did I do it right. [ he manages to mumble out a "... Yep, that's-- that's ... sort of what I was going for..." ]

[Drive by laughing in Eric's face to add insult to injury...]

Good. [ and she releases eric, who gets up, rubbing his nose, and going to grab a bottle of water near where alainn is laughing at him while he tries to avoid eye contact with lila, while sydney turns and sees her cracking up over there. she goes to grab here bottle as well, saying with a shrug and dry humor: ]

He must be a really good teacher.

[That just basically made Lila's day, honestly. She is so cheerful.]

So far getting my ass handed to me hasn't been a lesson. [Because... she would get her ass handed to her. Spectacularly.] It's kind of nice though. Someone else getting his lectures, I mean. Feels like a day off.

Does he always do that? Treat you like you're wearing pigtails, I mean.

I wouldn't put up with it. I don't think he's even been in the Knights that many years himself.

What am I supposed to do, lodge a formal complaint because my mentor has a stick firmly lodge right up his ass? He can be a dismissive, condescending prick and everything that comes out of his mouth makes me what to strangle him. [A beat.] But he's not that bad.

I guess that's your call, in the end. But it wouldn't hurt to take him down a peg sometimes.

Not exactly strong enough to choke slam him into a wall.

Not everybody's strengths here are in their right hook. You're a Knight for a reason. There must be something you can do that he can't.

Re: training room ♔ (ota/multi-thread)

[Alainn knew she had to visit the training room and brush up on her martial skills. She'd been spell-slinging up a storm, but it was time to flex her muscles in a training setting once more.

And that is how she just so happened to run into one of her most favorite fellow Knights in the whoooole castle. Please read the heavy sarcasm.

She walks in just in time to see Eric and the new Squire step onto the training mat, which gave her plenty of time to position herself for maximum viewing pleasure.

As Sydney swiftly kicks Eric's ass takes Eric down, she can't help but let out a gleeful giggle.]

[ and as syd releases him, eric comes over to grab his water bottle in frustration, and gives a double take at alainn, before unleashing a groan. ]

When did you get back?

[attollores]

[Alainn's grin just gets wider at his groan, his displeasure at her appearance making a ripple of delight run down her spine. He was suck a stuck up jerk that she just could not help herself.]

Oh, not all that long ago, a few days is all. It seems I picked the perfect time to come to the training room today though. [See how snarky she can snark back at you, Eric?]

Why, did you wanna go a round next? [ does he mean against sydney?? him?? the world may never know ]

[Alainn saunters a few steps closer to him, her demeanor on the tip of menacing/cocky. She eyes him up and down very obviously (even though she is the shorter of the two)making sure to get all up in his "personal space". She knows how much he just loves it when she does that.]

Are ye making an offer, love?

[ omfg he is going to kill you in the face ] I think I still owe you one for that 'distraction' of yours last year. [ when you punched him in the head and... kicked him in the balls. et cetera... ]

Still a wee bit sore over that then? [Alainn shrugs out of the trench coat she was wearing nix the heels and dress and tosses it on a near-by bench, turning to face Eric again with the smile still on her face.]

Well then, I guess I do owe ye one for that. [Alainn may have a firey temper and like to nettle Eric, but she also knew fair was fair and though it had felt good at the time, she did owe him a chance to get back at her for punching his face. And kicking his balls.]

Alright then, let's do this.

(A spot check of 15 would show Alainn's coat hanging open, and there is a picture of someone on the inside pocket.

[ eric... crit failed, so i guess he is too busy rolling up his sleeves and heading onto the mat, doing a few punches at the air in a very... lame display. ] Ready when you are.

[Alainn is just watching him punch the air with this wtf? look on her face. Maybe that was why she got such a kick out of beating his ass, he was just so lame. Shrugging, she swings her arms around a few times to limber up, following Eric onto the mat.

She gets into a "ready" position, knees slightly bent and arms hanging loose at her sides.]

Ready.

[ and he lashes out with a leg, dropping low (atk 24), following it up with a nat 20 elbow up into her side, trying to knock her off balance. (BALANCE CHECK NECESSARY. i'm not gonna bother with dmg b/c it's subdual and they have MANY HP ]

[Alainn totally did not see that coming. His leg sweep takes her foot from under her, and the elbow in her side made the breath in her lungs whoosh out in a rush, hunching her over. She stands her ground (nat 20 balance check!)however, looking up at him open mouthed and gasping to catch her breath.

After a moment her lips curl up into a feral grin, a breathless laugh coming out as she straightens up.

With a small hop, she snaps her right leg up and towards his jaw in an arc(atk 17), followed by her elbow to towards the back of his neck (atk 19), one hand clasped onto the other to maximize the force of the blow.]

[ he dances around both blows, doing that weird half jogging in place thing, and then his fist snaps out towards her jaw (atk 21), and his other rockets into her side (atk... 24 damnn) ]
