Belle, the librarian. [Who else would be upset with defacing the books? Well, probably whomever wrote it or something.]

If you're not the librarian, I don't know why you're so broken up about it. [she goes back to writing. to her own credit, at least they're neat and tidy margin notes (although sort of excessive) and not idk teenage girl doodles of zac efron's face.] I'm pretty sure nobody's touched these in the last millennium, anyway.

Pretty sure someone around here is that old. [Who knows what that is meant to imply, but whatever. She moves back to her own books for a while, putting them back and collecting a neat stack of new ones that basically run the gamut of weird topics.]

They invented this thing a while back, called a notebook.

I don't know why, when you've just found all these great books to read. [she picks one up off the top of lila's stack and starts flipping through the pages of it.]

Yeah, I'm sure Freud's opinions on dreams are gonna be so very engrossing. [Except for the part where it won't be. Lila hates Freud. That's basically what her stack is of though -- psychological analysis of dreaming. Girl does her homework. Harry Potter might be tucked into the pile, she missed a couple books.]

No shit, but I can't defend Jung's superiority without being able to cite why Freud was such a fucknut.

And what's so comparatively great about Jung? [she tosses the book aside, then picks up another off lila's stack.]

Because he doesn't base theories on how cheerful his dick is at the moment? At least he admits that behavior is reactionary, based on upbrining as well as chemical makeup.

Makes sense. I never cared for all that psychology overanalysis bullshit. [and, after tossing the next book aside] I never cared for Harry Potter, either.

Comes in handy in my line of work. Psychology, not Harry Potter. I just missed that hype, wanted to see what the big deal was.

It's cute, I guess, but it's really childish. Which, I know, children's book. But still. The houses irked me. Like, all the Gryffindors were giant heroic assholes, all the Hufflepuffs were kind and sweet and good, all the Slytherins were evil. All of them. And it's rubbish. Dumbledore wouldn't let all the Slytherins lurk around the castle if there wasn't some kind of good in them.

Isn't Dumbledore supposed to be all looks for the best in people even when there isn't any, though? [Basically what she got from the first book was Dumbles is a dumbass/asshole (changing the scores after it was over, rude) and gingers are incapable of being evil and only people who are inherently bad wear turbans.] Whatever, I read Moby Dick and survived. I'm sure a teenage wizard won't drive me to suicide.
