[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of this month.  Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

What do you think? [He gives her a steamy stare, tongue curling around his teeth as he undresses her with his eyes without breaking eye contact. Yeah. He's that good (diplomacy 26).

Then he smirks and holds up his own gun.]

[ the worst part of this is that she rolled a 19 on her will save but the total is still only 22. so she swallows thickly, backing up against the stall divider behind her as her expression flutters and her pulse quickens. she hadn't expected him to pursue that interest after, well, everything. after faye and all her (entirely justified) hasty avoidance and discouragement.

but then he raises his gun and the stiffness drains out of her shoulders, tension leaving her body. she shuts her eyes, giving an exasperated sigh, and then opens them again only to roll them and glance away. obviously. ]

Then, how about instead of talking, you shoot?

[Sorry, Emma, you can't fight this sexiness. He sees her reaction, and he's clearly pleased by it. He grabs an extra pair of earmuffs, but he isn't ready to stop flirting.]

In good time. I see no reason why I can't do both.

I can think of plenty of reasons. [ yep her earmuffs are going back on because she doesn't want to listen to you. she'll pick up her firearm and get ready again. ]

[Whatever, Emma. He puts on his own earmuffs and goes to shoot at the target. BUT HE'S GONNA WAIT HER OUT.]

[ you know what's gotten a lot shittier since hook started distracting her? emma's shooting skills. her attacks drop very nearly a full ten points across the board (12, 10, 17, 15). the clip runs out, and she pulls the trigger to a harsh clicking noise of an empty gun a few times before slamming it down. yep that ... sucked a lot. she doesn't pull her earmuffs off, though, but just rests her hands on the desk in front of her, shoulders hunched as she tries to formulate a plan to just ... slide right on past him because she's done with this shit. ]

[Hook's doing pretty well, on the other hand. (21, nat 20, 21) Probably because he's really taking his time with each shot since all his focus is on Emma. Enough focus that when she stops, he pulls off the earmuffs and lowers his gun, reaching around to touch her shoulder.]

Everything all right, love? [He glances up at her target.] Seem a bit distracted.

[ she jumps when he touches her, because the earmuffs blocked any noise, and she rips them off quickly, shifting hastily away from him. ]

I came here to be alone. You do know the meaning of the word, don't you?

I know a public shooting range isn't the best place to find it.

It was doing pretty well so far. [ but she holds up her hands in surrender. ] You're right. I'll go. [ she swaps her clip for a full one and shoves her gun into the holster on her hip, then moves to shoulder past him. ]

[He catches her arm with his good hand.]

What's upsetting you, Swan?

Right now? You not taking a hint.

[ she shakes her arm free. ]

I'm not interested. I don't know how much clearer I can be. [ meanwhile amara is forgetting she's not actually interested in emma's father and that's just a bad situation. ]

And I don't recall suggesting I... play with your trigger. [Though he's really not opposed, Emma. Think about it.] But I doubt I'm the cause of all your woes. [If he is, he does want to know. He never wanted to hurt her.]

You're right! You're not. Because as eager as you might be to play your part in my problems, you are hardly the biggest one, and not a single one of them is any of your damn business. So, instead of wasting my time with unwelcome flirting, how about you let me go deal with those. I'm sure Faye's got some free time if you're that desperate.

I'm not interested in Faye. [It comes out almost baffled, like he's surprised she's even still thinking about Faye. He certainly isn't. And he very much doubts Faye's been thinking about him. They weren't exactly sleeping together to start off their beautiful romance. It was just sex.

In Emma's bed. That, he supposes, is why she's so cold towards him. Which makes sense. It's just unfortunate, since he's still very much hot for her.]

You're still upset about that? [It could easily come off as impatient and accusing, but his tone is more... sad.] I never meant to hurt you so much.

Oh, come on, this isn't - [ she indignation builds into disbelief in her expression and she rolls her eyes. ] Don't try to make this a jealousy thing. How many different ways do I have to say I'm not interested before it gets through to you? I just - I mean, yeah, it was rude, it was my room! My bed! But, not because -

Emma. Look at me. Have I made any moves towards you today? Asked you to do anything? [Having eye sex doesn't actually count.] I'm not asking if you're interested. I'm asking if there's a way I can make it up to you. [He steps forward but the heat and charm usually in his expression are gone, replaced by pretty pathetic desperation (diplomacy crit fail wow dice).] Want to swap rooms? Haven't shagged anyone there...

[ wow hook u were rly onto something until that last remark too bad about the crit fail. ]

Ugh! [ the noise that comes out of her is unmistakably disgusted, and she raises a hand to shove him out of the way for it, but it's slow and there's really no way he doesn't see it coming (attack 14) as she tries to step around him. ] How about you leave me the hell alone? [ because she'll get a new room when she joins the dragon's fire. when gold finishes teaching her magic, when she's more than just some squire, and when she does get a room in that wing, hook won't be coming anywhere near it. that, she promises herself. ]

[Pretty lame punch, Emma. Hook rocks back a little, but doesn't quite get out of her way.]

Is that really what you want? [Because HE SURE DOESN'T. He likes her company, even if she's constantly cold to him.] We're working for the same people, Swan, and we're from the same world. [More or less.] Like it or not there's a connection.

[uncurse]

A lot of people work for Wynn, and I don't see you cozying up to Gold and his crocodile. [ she's just saying. ] How about instead of asking what I want - which I've said about ten times at this point - we talk about what you want. We hardly knew each other before coming here, it's not like that gives us some - some deep connection, it's coincidence. We weren't best friends from the same world, Hook, I mean that'd be one thing, but we were practically strangers. [ because she always talks to strangers about that time she was in love except oh wait it didn't come up before the beanstalk at all ... how odd. ]

Come on, Swan. We both know it's not that simple. [He steps in closer.] We understand each other, you and I. And you're right. This isn't about jealousy.

This is about fear. Stay angry at me, stay away from me, and you don't have to risk the possibility that I may start to care. Don't need risk having any feelings in return.

[Sense motive 19. He looks up, searching her face.] How'm I doing so far?

[uncurse]

Start to - [ hook that is basically a marriage proposal to emma and it's painfully obvious in her expression that it spooks her. ] Hey, whoa, no. I am not here for - for feelings, or any of that. I'm here to find my mother, and get my family back. The sooner the better.

[unhand]

That's your way of saying I'm right, then? [She can dress it up in whatever excuses she wants, it all boils down to she's avoiding feelings.]

If you want to take a serious distorted view of reality, sure. I'm not - I'm not afraid, I just have higher priorities than romance.

You're actively avoiding it. That's a bit different from not prioritizing.
