Wouldn't be much of a bard if I didn't. Let's see... [He starts to hum, then launches into a song from home. It's about victory and honor and the girls waiting for the men back home. If this was a real fight, he would push his magic into it and inspire the shit out of some courage, but that doesn't seem necessary when he's just hanging out with Dovan. Still, he rocks this one more than the last, because when he knows he has an audience, he puts on a show (perform nat 20).]

[ although he doesn't know the tune, dovan picks it up soon and hums along as he slaps his leg and merrily claps along to the beat. it draws a small crowd of onlookers, young knights wandering by, and when he finishes, they clap loudly and cheer, dovan loudest of all ]

[By the end of it, Thoster is laughing nearly as much as he's singing. He's a performer through and through, though- so he doesn't let the humor hurt his performance. In fact, it only helps by making his gestures grander and his voice boom louder. As he finishes and the applause sets in, he gives a deep bow before clapping a hand to Dovan's shoulder.]

You deliver on your promise well, friend! Enthusiasm in droves!

Isn't every day a dwarf sees such a fine performance.

Why? Too many people in the way, usually?

[Thoster, you probably shouldn't make short jokes at the expense of the guy who just complimented you?]

[ actually? he just... bursts out laughing. a ton. uproariously. ] Well, now, he got me there!

[bluffcheck]

[Thoster officially has a new best friend.]

I'm parched. What do you say I let you buy me a drink?

Now who in their right mind would ever deprive a man of a well earned ale?

Couldn't have said it better myself. But before we quench our thirsts, I should know your name! I already know you have quite an ear for music.

Aha! I've heard of you! Ironsides- in charge of the Hide, aren't you?

That's the one! Still can't believe it some days... wonder where all the years have gone.

I bet you have a few good stories to tell. Perhaps we could discuss it over our drink? If you're lucky, I'll write a song about you.

Now, that would be a first! You'd have to promise to sing at our next feast.

A song's not worth much if you can't share it with a crowd.

Well, I can see ye have no problems drawing one. Where'd you learn to sing so fine?

[bluffcheck]

On the road, truth be told. I was always known to lead the men through a song or two in the tavern, but it wasn't until I started setting out for adventure that I truly learned about the song in my heart.

Does that mean ye know the art of magic with your songs?

[bluffcheck]

Aye, comes in handy on the battlefield- but means I can't always join in to help. Bit of a hard place to put myself.

I wouldn't see it that way, if I were ye. Fought with many a bard on the field myself, and was always glad for their presence.

I captained a ship before I came here. Had my own family as part of my crew. It's hard to stand back when your little brother's in the thick of it.

[No but really- this pirate asshole is such a big softie.]

What was his name, yer brother?

Two of them, actually. Ackerly and Kimmer. [Annnnd he glances down and away because wow he misses them. Let's not mention the baby sister who tagged along too.]
