['cause she be a lady of the night, boo. She doesn't answer him though, just passes over the Starbucks cup she's drinking from. Go on and take a look. PRO TIP: IT AIN'T COFFEE.

What, it's not like she can bite someone on the mission team. Nor would she. Girl's gotta eat and Starbucks uses cups made from 70% post consumer recycled paper...]

[When she offers the cup for him to view, he raises and eyebrow and peers in. Unfortunately, even when he's seen so much, some things do still surprise the man. And we already established that he knew very little about vampires so its pretty appropriate that he CRIT FAILED A WILL SAVE and jumped back at the sight of blood in her cup.

Planes aren't really that large, so he actually jumped back against the seats on the other side of the aisle and promptly fell into a nearby seat.]

[She manages to save the cup from upending all over him, that would add insult to injury. (Reflex save 17.) She doesn't manage to look nonchalant about his reaction though, her expression showing she is clearly disheartened. (Will save 10.) Her voice is soft, the way one speaks to a scared child.]

Are you alright?

[Even in his shock, Thoster manages to catch that look on her face (spot 17). He knows that things aren't always cut and dry, and Lissa's a nice enough girl from what's he's seen.]

Oh, I'll survive. [He sits up and cracks a bit of a smile, embarrassed for his reaction.] Word to the wise, lass- you might want to come up with a softer way of telling a fellow that little tidbit.

Honestly? [And when is she not?] I thought that was slightly easier than saying I'm... [Her nose wrinkles. After reading all this lore admitting it feels like admitting she has six toes or listens to One Direction. No one but Sydney, Rose and Dimitri would recognize what Moroi means so she actually has to say it. Though she marks this off as a bad plan. Check.] A vampire.

[Wis check of 20 total lets him read her expression a little closer.]

Is there something more? Something else to it? [No he doesn't know that there are kinds of vampires but he can tell something is up. And he feels bad for overreacting. She's a sweet girl who hasn't given him reason to think she'd be a danger to him.]

Aside from none of this? [She holds up the book as if to say the "this" in question is everything she just told him about vampires.] I'm not dead. Or, evil. I don't hurt people. I, I heal.

[She smiles nervously, feeling Spirit trying to reach out and compel Thoster so she can change his mind for his, but she pushes it down. (Will save nat 20, you're welcome.)]

[He won't really need much compulsion, because hearing that puts him at ease and he sits forward a little.]

Storybooks don't always have it right, lass. Or maybe you're not a vampire at all. Could be all sorts of things out there that need blood to survive. Have you talked to Wynn about it? Man seems to know more about this world and others than anyone I've met.

No, I know what I am. As does Sydney. It's just different where I come from. My people are alive, we're called Moroi, but there are others... who are not. [A beat.] Sydney is human, though.

The quiet girl with the- [He gestures to his check, indicating Sydney's tattoo.] That's not why she's so wound up, is it?

She's not wound up, she's just... focused.

Tad more focused than a girl her age should be, don't you think? [There's a bit of humor to his tone, but also a touch of worry.] Hate to see her let all this worm too much worry into her mind.

[Lissa shrugs slightly, glancing to where Sydney is sitting.] Some people are natural worriers.

Aye, I suppose that's true. Someone has to be. That's what all this is for, isn't it? Different sorts of people- like a ship's crew.

I'm not sure what my role is though, considering Sir Solace is here.
