Never a dull moment.

The night of the funeral was certainly eventful: as expected, some of Chad's goons appeared at the cemetery, apparently in search of the buried necklace, and the Knights barely managed to escape with their lives thanks to the appearance of a giant dune-winder worm at the beck and call of a necromancer. Yep. The other team had their own share of adventure at the hotel, and though they couldn't get Nadia to leave with them, they did establish contact, and swiped Decker Greenwall's mysterious hourglass artifact from his room at Dumage's prompting. They also ran afoul of a doppelganger in the employ of the other side, who prompted Elena to begin questioning exactly who or what she might be...

And of course, they finally met with Rafael's lawyer, a last minute replacement for Burt's usual guy, who had met with an unfortunate skiing accident or... something. Jeggred 'Jaka' Teken'Duis, and his brother Nym, garnered a great deal of suspicion from the team from the start, although Jaka seems entirely confident that he can get Rafael off on a temporary insanity plea. Either way, he's agreed to help them look for clues to try to illustrate Chad's role in events at the upcoming trial, and suggested, to that end, breaking into his Chicago office, one of many not-quite-legal suggestions he hinted at during their pow-wow.

All those Knights who are looking to assist him are meeting up with Jaka in a parking garage a few blocks away from the NOVA building, at his invitation.  In fact, he's already there, leaning against his car, when they arrive.

[Spike shrugs. He's just as happy to not have Archer in his group, though he'd rather be with Buffy, as always. Still, he's sure she can handle kicking Jaka's ass if it's needed and protecting Myri and the rest. He can do the fun going through other people's stuff part.]

[ jaka's choice has her doubting she made the right one, because suddenly this feels like IT'S A TRAP for everyone actually going inside now, and her expression contorts with concern for des, finnick and spike. but she swallows it down, grabbing myri's hand. ]

Or if you find anything good. That's also a totally viable excuse for phone call.

[Late, but not entirely missed, a sudden growing "WUB WUB WUB" heralds the approach of one, Sterling Archer, as he powerslides around the corner.]

[A liquor bottle flies out of the window to smash on the pavement. He flies up, and quickly stops his matching El Camino right next to Des', as he jumps out of the car and walks their way.

Hey, sorry... I had to go buy some stuff. Uh, What's the plan?

[She's not even phased anymore. Used to your shenanigans, Archer.]

We're splitting up. You're with me.

[Yup, that sure is all she's saying right now. She wants to get this show on the road, okay?

[He clicks the lock button, but hits the wrong one, and the hydraulics kick the front end way up.]

Oh, uh... Still getting used to this, hang on...

[BOOP! Another button. The front end dives back down, but the car also starts playing one of Archer's favorite songs (And also, his ringtone...) *BLACK ASS MOMMA! WHITE ASS DADDY! MULATTO BUTTS! MULATTO BUTTS!(Link for your listening pleasure...)]

[He presses another button, and the car song stops, and there is a satisfying "beep beep" as the car locks.]

Alright, let's get this over with, eh?

[ Dawn wanted to continue that 'feeling useful' thing and sneak into the office, but... eh, she supposes Des has a point. It would probably be easier to play off the gaggle of ladies with the creepy lawyer guy and Archer.

Of course, given that he just made his car practically jump rope and blare that obnoxious song, she's having doubts about having him stick around. But that decision is probably above her paygrade. ]

I don't even wanna know what the hell that was. [ She pinches the bridge of her nose. ] The sooner we start, the sooner this is all over with.
