[ NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR FUN, FAYE. they head upstairs into a short, darkened hallway. a few elegant tables just against the walls, topped with vases, etc. christos skulks down the hallway, another dagger out in his hand that glints in the scant moonlight slipping in between two curtains in the opposite window. he listens at a few doors, before continuing down, silent as a phantom. ]

[ emma doesn't bother to stop along the hallway while christos does, because it's simple math: she had her shoes off in the foyer, which means they're familiar enough to be in either his office or his bedroom. those would be towards the back of the hall. she keeps quiet enough to listen as she advances to the end of it (nat 20 listen check). ]

[ lazily following all y'all, not paying attention in her fit of do not care. look, she's running through everything they know so she doesn't have to think too hard when they're threatening the mayor and his girlfriend, who is probs that hot badass from earlier. it'd be nice, two birds, one stone, she wouldn't have to introduce herself again... ]

Sounds like they're both out. [ she presses against the wall beside the door, leaning back to whisper to the others. ] You wanna lure him out, or do this in front of his girlfriend while they're in their underwear? [ as far as bailbonds-swan is concerned, both are legitimate options. ]

[ son of a bitch. emma does the one thing that can make this worse - she draws her gun and steps into the doorway behind them, raising her voice since they've already made an entrance. there's no hope of being subtle now, so why not go balls to the wall. ]

Move slowly, and keep your distance. Feel free to put some pants on, while you're at it. [ she's not a monster. ]

[ and just in case he doesn't speak english, lila translates that into french. minus the pants part -- he gets no dignity. and she'll just translate everything else unless he does speak english. ]

[ as predicted, the mayor isn't alone - and as lila predicted, he's not alone with the head of the zoning board, elodie olympe, the blonde woman from the office. she wakes more groggily than he does, reaching for her black glasses from the dresser beside the bed, as he jumps awake, eyes wide with horror. it's she who speaks however, in French, so I guess christos doesn't understand it after all. /edits

"What the hell is this?"

christos steps forward and casually shoots a dagger through the air, that lands with reverberation in the dresser right beside her hand, causing her to draw it away with a gasp. ]

A candy gram. [ lila snaps it back in french, shrugging toward christos like what can you do, eh? she waves a little. remember me? MAYBE YOU SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN SO DISMISSIVE. she turns to the rest of them. ]

She wants to know what we're doing here. [ okay, so it's a rough translation. you can't expect her to be word for word. she figures that's the intent. ]

We have business with the Mayor. Taenya Farstorm sends her regards. She's doing fine, by the way.

[ translating, with an added "yeah, well done, draco" tacked on to the end because she is a rood kitten. ]

[ "You have no right to barge in here," says the Mayor, pulling himself up to sitting, so they can see his hairy french chest. yeah enjoy that. "I'm calling the police." ]

If you do, I assure you, my friend won't miss next time. Comprendre? [ she inclines her head toward christos, in case he was wondering what she meant exactly. (intimidate nat 20, 36 total) stfu.

to the team she adds: ] We need to hurry this up, he's already threatening to call the cops.

Go ahead. And when you do, we can turn over all the evidence of the bioterrorism you're planning against this city's Shadowkind population. [ she steps forward. it doesn't matter that he can't understand her right now, because she's pissed and that emotion is conveying if nothing else. ] Or maybe we'll save it, and leak it to the press just before your re-election campaign. I'd hate to see what that does to your poll numbers.

[ actually, it seems like mayor does catch some of that because he replies:

"You have no proof! How dare you make such accusations!" ]

[Oh my god Faye is getting so bored. Why are we still talking to this guy?]

I don't know what you said, but I'm betting it wasn't useful. [Is anyone really shocked that the witch who kicked the door in isn't in the mood to negotiate in multiple languages? Throwing a hand out, Faye shoots a cone shaped line of fire from her fingertips (burning hands - damage 9, reflex save 15 for half damage) at the bed and its inhabitants.]

[ the mayor doesn't even try to move, he's too busy being freaked out (ref 5), but elodie dives out of the bed in her sexy nightgown with moves like jagger (ref 22) and now we ALL HAVE TO ROLL FOR INIT THANKS FAYE.

anyways, here we go bitches. christos twirls a few more daggers in his hand, the twitching muscles in his cheek the only sign that he's ready to murder faye after this is all said and done. for now there's a mission to finish out and he's going to do what he can to salvage this train wreck and make it look like that was just... part of their intimidation routine. ] I wouldn't do that, if I were you.

We have photographs, copies of shipping records that are particularly damning.

[ emma composes herself now that we're back to the talking instead of burning portions of the encounter. ] You're gonna find a safe place to dispose of those barrels without any Shadowkind getting hurt. You're gonna let up on Taenya, and you're gonna let her do her job. [ diplomacy 27 she's not really interested in intimidating she wants him logically won over. ] I don't think I need to tell you how this is gonna go down if you don't.

[ elodie's eyes narrow, but she glances at the mayor, and says to him:

"... I think you should listen to them. These people aren't playing with a full deck."

because ftr diplomacy checks do not work immediately after a person is intimidated by your pals... you cannot mix and match the two in terms of skill checks :x but it's ok b/c they're BOTH SCARED ALREADY. ]
